28-year old forward Jonathan Rodriguez (196-F-87) had a very impressive game in the last round for league's best team Academia and receives a Latinbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 20.
He had the game-high 32 points adding four rebounds and six assists for Academia in his team's victory, helping them to crush Piratas (#8, 2-18) with 16-point margin 93-77. It allowed Academia to consolidate first place in the Colombian league. Academia have a solid 17-3 record. In the team's last game Rodriguez had a remarkable 69.2% from 2-point range and got three three-pointers out of 7 attempts. He just recently signed at Academia, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Campbell University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Rodriguez is league's best scorer averaging so far 26.5ppg. Rodriguez is in league's top in and averages solid 56.9% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Tayron Thomas (191-SG-84) of Bucaros. He is American guard in his first season at Bucaros. In the last game Thomas recorded impressive 28 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Bad luck as Bucaros lost that game 87-94 to slightly lower-ranked Halcones (#5, 9-11). Bucaros managed to keep the same 3rd spot in the standings. His team's 13-7 record is not bad at all. Thomas is one of the most experienced players at Bucaros and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.1ppg (#5). His other stats are also decent: 6.8rpg and 5.1apg.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Brandon Sperling (196-G-90) of league's second-best Cimarrones. Sperling scored 29 points and grabbed eight rebounds. He was a key player of Cimarrones, leading his team to a 81-59 easy win against the lower-ranked Aguilas (#7, 7-13). Cimarrones needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 14 victories and 6 lost games. Sperling has a great season in Colombia. After 20 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.2ppg (9th best). Sperling attended one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball.

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
