Puerto Rican-Dominican Rep. Jonathan Rodriguez (196-F-87) had a great game in the last round for league's leader Academia and that's him to receive a Latinbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 24.
The 28-year old forward had the game-high 35 points adding eight rebounds and seven assists for Academia in his team's victory, helping them to beat Aguilas (#7, 8-16) 89-81. It allowed Academia to consolidate first place in the Colombian Liga DirecTV. Academia have a solid 21-3 record. In the team's last game Rodriguez had a remarkable 54.5% from 2-point range and got five three-pointers out of 10 attempts. He just recently signed at Academia, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Campbell University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Rodriguez is league's best scorer averaging so far 27.4ppg. Rodriguez is in league's top in and averages solid 56.1% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 34-year old former international guard Stalin Ortiz (190-G-81) of Condores. Ortiz impressed basketball fans with 35 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Bad luck as Condores lost that game 79-84 to slightly higher-ranked Halcones (#5, 12-12). Condores is still second from the bottom in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 9-15 record. Ortiz is one of the most experienced players at Condores and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 23.8ppg (#2). His other stats are also decent: 7.4rpg and 3.5apg.

The third best performed player last round was American R.J. McGhee (198-F, agency: CGL Sports) of Halcones (#5). McGhee scored 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds. He was a key player of Halcones, leading his team to a 84-79 win against slightly lower-ranked Condores (#6, 9-15). Halcones needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 12 victories and 12 lost games. McGhee has a great season in Colombia. After 24 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 20.2ppg (5th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Aramie Brooks (203-F/C-87) of Aguilas - 25 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Michael Jackson (197-F/G-87) of Bucaros - 20 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists
6. John Hernandez (207-C-84) of Sabios - 19 points, 12 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Tyquane Goard (201-F-93) of Cimarrones - 17 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists
8. Titus Mims (201-F) of Aguilas - 20 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Sean Harris (201-F) of Halcones - 16 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Miguel Bermudez) of Bucaros - 13 points and 4 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
