The Regular Season in Liga DirecTV just ended.

The most important game in the last round took place in Cucuta between second ranked Cimarrones (17-11) and fifth ranked Halcones (14-14) on Saturday night. Cimarrones were defeated by Halcones in a tough game on the road 80-85. Halcones looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American forward Sean Harris (201, college: Utah St.) scored 18 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized Venezuelan swingman Hector Diaz (197-92) chipped in 20 points during the contest. Halcones' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Tyquane Goard (201-93, college: Marshall) responded with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Halcones have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Cimarrones lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the second position with 11 games lost.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Bucaramanga. 3rd ranked host Bucaros (16-12) lost to first ranked Academia (23-5) 74-67. Center Cristian Arboleda (205-91) notched a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and Juan Fajardo supported him with 13 points and 4 assists. Even 8 points and 10 rebounds by international swingman Michael Jackson (197-87) did not help to save the game for Bucaros. Bucaros' coach Bernardo Gonzalez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Academia maintains first position with 23-5 record. Bucaros at the other side keep the third place with 12 games lost.
Sabios (#4) were upset in Manizales by seventh ranked Patriotas 74-61. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Sabios. The best player for the winners was Titus Mims who scored 22 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks. John Hernandez produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the hosts. Sabios' coach Gaston Fernandez tested twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Defending champion maintains seventh position with 9-19 record. Loser Sabios dropped to the fifth place with 13 games lost.

In the last game of round 26 bottom-ranked Piratas lost to Condores on the opponent's court 86-91.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 38 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 5 assists by Stalin Ortiz of Condores.

Halcones - Cimarrones 85-80

Rather expected game in Cundinamarca where 8th ranked Piratas (5-23) were defeated by sixth ranked Condores (13-15) 91-86 on Saturday. Condores shot 25 for 35 from the free-throw line, while Piratas only scored eight points from the stripe. They outrebounded Piratas 52-38 including 19 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Stalin Ortiz (190-81, college: Valparaiso) who had a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Gerson Pena (186-86) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds. Four Condores players scored in double figures. American swingman Antonio Davis (196-82, college: Urbana) produced 27 points and 7 rebounds and international point guard Franklin Forbes (180) added 21 points, 9 assists and 4 steals respectively for the guests. Condores maintains sixth position with 13-15 record. Loser Piratas stay dead last with 23 lost games.

The other American import power forward Aramie Brooks (203-87, college: Northwestern St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. Brooks is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Patriotas players scored in double figures. The former international center John Hernandez (207-84) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and American guard Cory Bradford (191-78, college: Illinois) added 20 points respectively for the hosts. Sabios' coach Gaston Fernandez tested twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Defending champion maintains seventh position with 9-19 record.
