The 2016 Liga Directv Semifinals are about to start at Medellin and Quibdo.
Academia vs Sabios and Cimarrones vs Bucaros are the series to define the finalists of the League, each semifinal playoff will be at the best in 5 games with a 2-2-1 format starting at the home of the best record, let's take a quick look of each series.

ACADEMIA VS SABIOS:

Academia has been the best team in the Liga Directv 2016, based on two main factors: his power on the boards with 3 good Colombian big men and Jonathan Rodriguez (196-F-87, college: Campbell, agency: DTMones) scoring, by its side Sabios had many highs and lows but looks like finally found a line up to compete, his main problem during the season has been the health of some key players but healthy the team has a chance to move forward.
Academia and Sabios are both strong rebounding teams, but Academia has outrebounded Sabios in each of the 4 regular season games getting many second chances that means the difference, so for Sabios give help in the boards to John Hernandez (207-C-84) is a key factor to fight and the comeback of John Velez (202-F-83, college: TCU) will play a major role in the series future, Velez just played two games against Academia.
Academia despite his dominance against Sabios in the regular season had problems moving and taking control of the ball, its turnovers per assist ratio against the Sabios climbs to 1,43, so the Academia needs to improve its execution and ball control to avoid problems in the series.
Key Players for Academia: Jonathan Rodriguez in the scoring and Divier Perez (201-F/C-89) in rebounding and defense.
Key Players for Sabios: John Hernandez fighting for the boards and challenging the penetrations and Juan Herrera (197-F-81) taking advantage of the mismatch facing the board against Perez or any other Academias big.

CIMARRONES VS BUCAROS

Cimarrones has outscored Bucaros by a 22 pts per game margin during the regular season, the Cimarrones 3pt FG against Bucaros has been its best this season, Bucaros has seen his rebounding falling against the Cimarrones to its lower average in the Liga.
But do not let this numbers fool you, Bucaros played all its 4 games against the Cimarrones without Luis Julio (201-F/C-80) and at least two of those games without 4 current starters: T.J. Sapp (190-G-92, college: Murray St., agency: Duran International), Michael Jackson (197-F/G-87), Tayron Thomas (191-SG-84, college: Philadelphia) and Luis Julio so looks like the team that Cimarrones has swept is not the same that is going to face now in the semifinals.
Luis Julio gives to the Bucaros leadership and strength in the paint, while the three guys outside Jackson , Sapp and Thomas are a true lethal combination with shooting and quickness; Cimarrones by its side also improve its roster with the arrival of Deandre Haskins (193-G-88, college: Chaminade) who brings offensive help to the team.
Bucaros roster entering the semifinals looks deep and with more offensive weapons, so if the team finally finds the right chemistry has a chance to reach the finals.
Key Players for Cimarrones: Brandon Sperling (196-G-90, college: Humboldt St.) the team scoring leader and Rodrigo Caicedo (180-PG-88) who when healthy is the team's general on the floor and a threat beyond the arc.
Key Players for Bucaros: Tayron Thomas, the team needs him now at full strength, Luis Julio who can change the history in the zone.
