Colombia reaches the 5th place in the Southamerican and gets a place in the A division of the new FIBA competitions system.
The national team defeated Paraguay 82-55 to clinch the 5th place of tournament which ranks them in the A division of the FIBA competitions system which includes 16 teams of the Americas region and will start in November 2017, from the very beginning Colombian took control of the game showing its dominance in the boards and an athletic superiority that the Paraguayans can not contest.
Michael Jackson leaded the national team in the game with 24 pts, Colombia outrebounded Paraguay 49-21 and it was the key stat of the game.
This goal can make a big difference for the Colombian basketball, actually Coldeportes and Fecolcesto has signed an agreement to support a development plan of the Colombian basketball towards the 2024, but the good performance of the Colombian team turn many eyes to the sport and could be a factor to attract the interest of new sponsors,
Despite just having 10 days of practices and two friendly games the Colombian success was based on six facts:

1-The right selection of the coaching staff, Guillermo Moreno is a true master of the sport and the players believes them and respect them, Tomas Diaz was a good complement since he has been handling the national team in the last years.
2-The national players arrives in game shape and game rhythm, something that did not happen before.
3-Stalin Ortiz was in the best shape of the recent years and motivated to give his best to the national team.
4-The maturity of Michael Jackson who now takes the lead as the Colombia's offensive threat but also as its prime defender.
5-The size and athletic level of the group that makes them a strong rebounding team
6-The maturity of Rodrigo Caicedo who was a floor general controlling the tempo.

Now Fecolcesto has the task to put a plan on the ground that gives the team a chance to compete among the continents elite and keep this place in the A Division.
