We bring you last week's top performances from Colombians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

Juan Palacios
Juan Palacios
#1. This week's number one is an international power forward Juan Palacios (206-85, currently plays in Turkey). He contributed to Tofas' victory against the fourth-ranked Banvit (15-6) 88-83 in the Turkish BSL in Saturday night's game. Palacios scored 6 points in 17 minutes on the court. Tofas Bursa (10-11) is placed ninth in the BSL. This year Palacios averages: 4.3ppg, 3.7rpg in three games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Colombian and Spanish. Ex-Guerreros de Bogota player is currently a member of the Colombian senior national team.

Braian Angola-Rodas
Braian Angola-Rodas
#2. Second place goes to an international guard Braian Angola-Rodas (198, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA. Angola-Rodas could not help the Florida St. (12-6) in their last game on Friday. Despite his very good performance the Florida St. was defeated 77-73 on the road by the University of Notre Dame. Angola-Rodas recorded 17 points. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA. It's Angola-Rodas' first season with the team. His overall stats this year are: 4.7ppg, 1.6rpg, 1.2apg, 3FGP: 43.5% and FT: 77.8%. Angola-Rodas is in the roster of the Colombian senior national team.

Hanner Mosquera-Perea
Hanner Mosquera-Perea
#3. The Colombian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international forward Hanner Mosquera-Perea (206-93, currently studies in the States). Mosquera-Perea led E.Tenn.St. to a victory against the University of North Carolina, Greensboro (14-4) 79-74 in the NCAA in Monday night's game. He scored 12 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. The East Tennessee State University has quite an impressive 14-4 conference record this season. It was E.Tenn.St.'s fourth consecutive victory in a row. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA. Mosquera-Perea's overall stats this season are: 8.4ppg, 4.6rpg, 1.3bpg, 2FGP: 59.9%(103-172) and FT: 56.1%. He is also a member of the Colombian senior national team.

Thomas Diaz
Thomas Diaz
#4. Swingman Thomas Diaz (193-93, currently plays in NCAA2) was not able to help the Texas A&M University - Kingsville in their game against the West Texas A&M University (13-6) in the NCAA2. Diaz scored only 4 points. The Texas A&M University - Kingsville was defeated 76-64 in Canyon by the West Texas A&M University. His team will play only one more game in the NCAA2 National Tournament Round 2. And that game will be critical. Diaz has been at the team for five years. Diaz's overall stats this season are: 2.7ppg and 2.1rpg. He is also Colombian national team player.

Hansel Atencia
Hansel Atencia
#5. International guard Hansel Atencia (180-97, currently plays in NAIA) contributed to a The Master's College, CA's victory against the Hope International University (13-3) 79-74 in the NAIA in Tuesday night's game. Atencia recorded 12 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals in 41 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. The The Master's College, CA has a solid 12-4 record this season. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the NAIA Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. Atencia has relatively good stats this year: 12.2ppg, 2.5rpg, 3.6apg and 1.2spg in 26 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Spanish and Colombian. Atencia plays currently for the Colombian national team.

The list of other players, who all have Colombian passport but never been selected to any of Colombian national teams:

#1. Experienced Cesar Silva (190-G/F-81, currently plays in Venezuela) led Guaiqueries to a 1-point victory over the fourth-ranked Guaros (1-3) 90-89 in the Venezuelan LPB in Wednesday night's game. He was MVP of the game. Silva scored 27 points (!!!), had 7 rebounds and dished 7 assists in 33 minutes. Guaiqueries de Margarita (3-3) is placed third in Eastern Conference. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Silva has relatively good stats this year: 13.0ppg, 4.8rpg and 3.2apg in six games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Colombian and Venezuelan.

#2. Cesar Cortes (200-F/C-81, currently plays in Mexico) led Fuerza Regia to a victory against the closely-ranked Toros (22-14) 87-76 in the Mexican LNBP (second division) last Monday. Cortes recorded 17 points. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Fuerza Regia Monterrey (32-4) is placed first in the LNBP. It's Cortes' first season with the team. This year he averages: 6.9ppg, 1.6rpg and 2.2apg.

#3. Luis Julio (201-F/C-80, currently plays in Venezuela) could not help Panteras (1-5) in their last game. Despite Julio's very good performance the fifth-placed Panteras (1-5) was edged 80-79 in a derby game by the leading Cocodrilos in the Eastern Conference. He had a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 12 rebounds in 29 minutes. But the season just started, so everything may happen. Julio has relatively good stats this year: 12.2ppg and 6.5rpg in six games. He is another player who holds two passports: Colombian and Venezuelan.

#4. Fernando Lucena (185-PG-86, currently plays in Venezuela) was not able to help Gigantes (3-1) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Lucena's very good performance the second-placed Gigantes (3-1) was defeated 89-83 on the road by the leading Bucaneros in the Eastern Conference. He was the second best scorer with 17 points. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. It's Lucena's first year with the team. This season Lucena averages: 8.3ppg. He has both Colombian and Venezuelan nationalities.

#5. Douglas Chiquito (193-G-86, currently plays in Venezuela) contributed to Gaiteros' victory against the fifth-ranked Panteras (1-5) 84-74 in the Venezuelan LPB last Monday. Chiquito recorded 15 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 32 minutes. Gaiteros de Zulia (2-4) is placed third in Western Conference. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. This year Chiquito averages: 9.0ppg, 3.4rpg, 1.4apg and 1.8spg in five games. Similarly like Lucena and Julio above he also holds two passports: Colombian and Venezuelan.

#6. Jesus Urbina (201-F-84, college: George Mason, currently plays in Venezuela) is a teammate of previously mentioned Cesar Silva. But that was another game of his team in Venezuelan LPB which we would like to mention. Urbina was the major contributor in Guaiqueries' victory against the fourth-ranked Marinos 72-65. He recorded 11 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. It was his first game for Guaiqueries this season. Similarly like three previous players above, Urbina has Colombian and Venezuelan nationalities.

#7. Jackson Zapata (198-F-85, currently plays in Venezuela) is a teammate of previously mentioned Cesar Silva. He played also in the last Venezuelan LPB game facing Jesus Urbina (above) in the other team. Zapata contributed to Guaiqueries' victory against the fourth-ranked Marinos 72-65. He recorded 7 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists in 28 minutes. This year Zapata's overall stats are: 4.7ppg, 3.0rpg and 1.5apg in six games. He has Colombian and Venezuelan nationalities. Despite Zapata's Colombian passport, he previously played for the Venezuelan U21 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Colombian team.

#8. Jorge Leon (188-PG-79, currently plays in Venezuela) was not able to secure a victory for Toros in their game against Bucaneros in the Venezuelan LPB. Leon scored 5 points in 9 minutes. His team was crushed by 35 points 89-54. This year Leon averages only 2.5ppg in four games. Similarly like five previous players above, he holds both Colombian and Venezuelan passports.
