Guatemala grabs the second win on Centrobasket Championship 2008. After Trinidad & Tobago, Guatemalans were better than Costa Rica making step forward to fifth position on Centrobasket. Blanca Amado (-80) was the key player for the winners. She totally dominated at the offensive end netting 26 points. At the same time Blanca Amado grabbed 9 boards and dished out 4 assist. Beginning of the game belonged to Guatemalans as they ended first stanza having advantage of 5 points. Second period brought a little bit better performance from Costa Rica. However both teams struggled a lot with their stroke having just some more that 30% from the field. Guatemala continued at the same rhythm after the breather which resulted with plus 10 at the early beginning of the third stanza. Later, Costa Rica wasn't able even to threat as Guatemalans extended their lead even more.
Except of above mentioned Blanca Amado, the winners got 14 points and 8 rebounds from Sofia Lopez (-G-87). Maria Fleischmann (-F/C-78) also showed decent performance finishing the game with 11 points and 9 rebounds. On the other side Glendorlee Pinnock (-62) added 13 points and 5 rebounds for Costa Rica while Natalia Galvez (-85) stopped don 13 points. In the battle for position number five Guatemala will take on Trinidad & Tobago, which will be the second game of these two teams in Puerto Rico. Costa Rica will meet Barbados for position number seven.
