LBS Round 8: Escazu is defeated by Coopenae in a derby game - Apr 17, 2016

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in LBS.

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from San Jose: Coopenae (#1) and Escazu (#2). Escazu was smashed at home by 19 points 67-86 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Escazu. Undefeated Coopenae (6-0) have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 6 victories in a row. Escazu at the other side keeps the second place with two games lost. Coopenae are looking forward to face Barva (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Escazu's supporters also look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in San Jose to the arena Universidad Latina.

They beat Grecia 85-59 as Ty Armstrong (206-F-91, college: Concordia Irvine) stepped up with 26 points in a win. Aaron McQuin replied with 17 points in a loss. Liga de Baloncesto Superior started last night in Costa Rica. Universidad Latina overcame Abogados 71-58 as Milton Jimenez(G-95) led the way with 16 points, whilst Ronny Espinoza produced 24 in a loss. Perez Zeledon outscored Liberia 66-61 as Lekeem Duncan top-scored for the winners with 24 points. George Letford is a newcomer at Grecia - 1 month ago
Super Cable Grecia (LBS) strengthened their roster with addition of 26-year old international swingman George Letford (185-91) from Ferreteria Brenes Barva. Letford has played there for the last seven years. He helped them to win the league title (twice) (also twice).
