LBS Round 9: Coopenae loses their first game against Barva - Apr 20, 2016

There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in LBS.

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Coopenae (6-1) in San Jose on Tuesday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Barva (4-2) 72-61. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Coopenae. Defending champion maintains third place with 4-2 record having just three points less than leader Coopenae. Coopenae at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. Barva are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Universidad Latina (#5) in San Jose in the next round. Coopenae will play at home against Grecia (#4) and is hoping to win this game.

Universidad Latina was defeated at home 70-84 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Escazu maintains second place with 5-2 record behind leader Coopenae. Universidad Latina at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. Escazu's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from San Jose .

Super Cable Grecia (LBS) strengthened their roster with addition of 26-year old international swingman George Letford (185-91) from Ferreteria Brenes Barva. Letford has played there for the last seven years. He helped them to win the league title (twice) (also twice). Kay Martinez joins Escazu - 5 days ago
Coopeservidores Escazu (LBS) agreed terms with 33-year old international guard Kay Martinez (198-84, college: Jackson State) from Ferreteria Brenes Barva. He helped them to win the league title (twice) (also twice). Martinez was voted Latinbasket.com All-Centrobasket Honorable Mention in 2016. He has been also a member of Costa Rican international program for some years. Liberia (LBS) agreed terms with experienced 39-year old American guard Cory Bradford (191-78, college: Illinois). He started the season at GIE Maile Matrix (UBA) in the U.S. Bradford's team won Mitchell Americas Cup. He was voted Latinbasket.com All-Mitchell Americas Cup 2nd Team in 2017. The last summer Bradford played at Sabios in Colombian Liga DirecTV where in 14 games he had very impressive stats: 16.1ppg, 3.9rpg, 3.6apg and 1.7spg. He helped them to make it to the semifinals.
