2010 Centrobasket, Third place: CUBA - PANAMA 74-75
Panama grabbed the Bronze in Santo Domingo thanks to 74-75 thriller win against Cuba. With this victory Panama secured a spot for the Pan-American Games in Mexico next summer. Both teams booked a ticket for the 2011 FIBA Americas Championship (Pre-Olympic). Jose Lloreda (201-F/C-80, college: LSU) shined for Panama in this game with double-double of 24 points and 12 rebounds. He was the MVP with valuation 22. Joel Munoz (179-G-80) secured a nice help with 18 points, while Leonardo Pomare (203-F-86, college: San Diego) added 10 points and 11 boards. In Cuba, Orestes Torres (202-C-87) collected 16 points, 7 boards and 6 assists. Andy Boffil (192-G/F-82) had 15 and Allen Jemmott (195-G/F-80) scored 11 pts. Panama opened the game better. Jose Lloreda and his teammates dominated in the first ten minutes for 17-23 lead. Cuba drastically improved after that and limited Panamanians to just 12 points in Q2. On the other side, Cubans scored 19 for 36-35 turn at the half time. Panama replied after the breather and quickly grabbed back the lead. After 19-25 in third period Panama was 5 points up and there was ten minutes left in the game. Last quarter belonged to Cuba (19-15), but that was not enough. Panama was more concentrated in the finish to grab 74-75 victory and the Bronze in Santo Domingo.

Ciego de Avila repeated as the LSB champions. They handed Capitalinos the fourth straight defeat in the series and got away with the trophy. William Granda (189-SG-85) led the winners with 23 points in a 66:60 victory in the decisive fifth game of the series. Ciego de Avila and Capitalinos stayed close throughout the first quarter. The defending champions eked out a 14:13 lead after the starting quarter. They boosted the gap in the second quarter. Ciego de Avila recorded a 38:27 halftime lead. However Capitalinos turned things around in the third quarter. They went on a 20:11 rally to erase the deficit. But William Granda helped Ciego de Avila make a decisive 19:13 push in the fourth quarter as they sealed the win. Yasser Rodriguez (187-PG-88) accounted for 11 points, while Joan Luis Haiti (200-C-82) added 10 points for the champions. Lisvan Valdez (195-G/F-88) answered with game-high 26 points for Capitalinos. Eliezer Lima (202-C/F-75) and Arlen Alorda (198-F/C-86) had 8 points each in the loss.
