Cuba earned the top spot at the Guildford Invitational Tournament. They celebrated three wins in as many games to claim the trophy. Cuba held off Germany tonight to wrap up their perfect campaign. Suchitel Avila (183-F-82) delivered 13 points and 9 rebounds to pace Cuba. Cuba grabbed the initiative right from the start. They held their opponents to 9 points in the first quarter to take a 7-point lead. Cuba increased the tempo in the second stanza. They accumulated a 13-point lead at the interval 36:23. Germany tried to strike back in the third period. They outscored the Latin American team to narrow the margin at 8 points with one quarter remaining. The fourth frame was plagued by misses and turnovers as Cuba hung on to win the game. Leydis Oquendo (180-F-82) had 10 points and 8 rebounds, while Clenia Noblet (191-C-87) finished with 9 points in the win. Sarah Austmann (179-G/F-85) answered with 12 points for Germany. Chen Nan (197-C-83) stepped up with 21 points for the winning side. Wen Lu (188-F-90) added 14 points in the victory. Yamara Amargo replied with 29 points for Cuba.
