Argentina registered a comfortable win over Cuba on the first day of Torneo Super 4 in Cordoba. Manu Ginobili (198-G-77, agency: Interperformances) scored 25 points and grabbed 8 rebounds to pace the winners. Argentina will now take on Venezuela in the championship game tonight. Cuba will face Uruguay next.
Argentina grabbed the initiative early on. They outscored Cuba 23:14 in the opening frame. The hosts kept the pressure growing in the second quarter. They arrived at halftime leading by as many as 17 points 45:28. Cuba stopped the rot in the third. They exchanged baskets with Argentina to face the same 17-point deficit with one quarter remaining. Argentina did not allow the visitors closer than 13 points in the final term and rallied to a comfortable win at the end. Luis Scola (206-F/C-80) connected for 14 points, while Hernan Jasen (199-G-78) produced 11 points in the victory. Lisvan Valdez (194-G/F-88) responded with 14 points for Cuba. Pablo Marrero knocked down 11 points in defeat.

Importadora Alvarado Ambato (National League) tabbed 25-year old Cuban swingman Marvin Cairo (201-95kg-91, agency: Pro Sports). He played in the summer at CAN Oruro in Bolivia Libobasquet. Cairo managed to play in three leagues in two countries last year (!!!). He also played that season for Capitalinos in Cuba LSB where in 13 games he averaged 10.1ppg, 3.5rpg, 2.4apg and 1.5spg.
