Venezuela prevailed against Cuba to improve at 2-1 record at Oscar Moglia Cup in Montevideo. Therefore Venezuela occupied the second overall position at the tournament. Axiers Sucre (198-F-78) stepped up with 14 points to lead balanced effort from the winners. Cuba suffered the third straight loss at the tourney.
Venezuela marked their ambitions early in the encounter. They stormed past Cuba in the opening frame posting a 30:14 lead ten minutes into the encounter. Cuba however trimmed the deficit in the second period. They got within 6 points at the interval 38:44. But Venezuela stepped on the gas in the third period. They registered a 66:49 lead heading into the fourth quarter and never looked back en route to the victory. David Cubillan (183-PG-87, college: Marquette) posted 12 points for the winners. Greivis Vasquez (198-PG-87, college: Maryland) and Heissler Guillent (186-G-86, agency: Paris Global Sports) added 11 points each for Venezuela. Cuba responded with 19 points from Lisvan Valdez (194-G/F-88). Yoan Luis Haiti (200-C-82) finished with 16 points in the loss.

LSB Round 10: Villa Clara defeat Ciego in the closest game of the week - 9 hours ago
Seventh-ranked Ciego (1-8) gave a tough game to top-ranked Villa Clara (10-0) in Avila on Tuesday. The visitors from Santa Clara managed to secure only three-point victory 87-84. However their fans expected much easier game. Osvaldo Perez had a great game in the last round for league's best team Villa Clara and receives a Player of the Week award for round 9. He had a double-double of 20 points and 14 rebounds, while his team crushed, the league's bottom-ranked team Guantanamo (#7, 0-8) with 17-point margin 97-80. LSB Round 9: Pinar defeat Capitalinos in the game between Top 4 teams - 2 days ago
An interesting game for Pinar (7-1) which played road game in La Habana against 3rd placed Capitalinos (5-4). Second ranked Pinar managed to get a 10-point victory 64-54. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Capitalinos. The game was mostly controlled by Pinar. Capitalinos managed to win fourth quarter 17-14.
