Venezuela prevailed against Cuba to improve at 2-1 record at Oscar Moglia Cup in Montevideo. Therefore Venezuela occupied the second overall position at the tournament. Axiers Sucre (198-F-78) stepped up with 14 points to lead balanced effort from the winners. Cuba suffered the third straight loss at the tourney.
Venezuela marked their ambitions early in the encounter. They stormed past Cuba in the opening frame posting a 30:14 lead ten minutes into the encounter. Cuba however trimmed the deficit in the second period. They got within 6 points at the interval 38:44. But Venezuela stepped on the gas in the third period. They registered a 66:49 lead heading into the fourth quarter and never looked back en route to the victory. David Cubillan (183-PG-87, college: Marquette) posted 12 points for the winners. Greivis Vasquez (198-PG-87, college: Maryland) and Heissler Guillent (186-G-86, agency: Paris Global Sports) added 11 points each for Venezuela. Cuba responded with 19 points from Lisvan Valdez (194-G/F-88). Yoan Luis Haiti (200-C-82) finished with 16 points in the loss.
