Cuba reaches the Final at the 2012 Centrobasket in Morovis. The team overcame Mexico 86:42 in the Semifinal to face the hosts in the Final game. Cuba started with 22-9 lead and never looked behind after. Mexico however managed to win the second period 16-13, but could not stay tough. Cuba erupted with 26-8 surge in the third quarter and reached 61:32 after three quarters. Moreover they added 25-9 in the last stanza to win the Semifinal clash. Leidys Oquendo (180-F-82) and Suchitel Avila (183-F-82) top-scored for the winners with 18 points each. Yamara Amargo (180-F-85) netted 13, while Marlen Cepeda (193-C-85) collected 11 points and 12 rebounds. Frida Gonzalez (184-C) ended up with 9 in defeat, whilst Abril Garcia (188-F/C-80, college: ORU) and Laura Nunez (187-C/F-93) posted 7 each.

Anisleydys Galindo (179-G-89) stepped up with 21 points to pace the winners. Arlenys Romero (176-G-84) and Taimy Fernandez (183-F-82) added 17 points apiece for Pinar del Rio.
