There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in LSB.

The most exciting game of round 2 in the LSB took place in La Habana. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of Capitalinos (0-2) to Pinar (2-0) 92-89 on Friday evening. Strangely Capitalinos outrebounded Pinar 30-17 including 20 on the defensive glass. 25 personal fouls committed by Capitalinos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Yosiel Monterrey (185-88) who scored 31 points and 7 steals. The former international point guard Osmel Oliva (178-87) chipped in 29 points and 7 steals. International forward Karel Guzman (188-95) produced 38 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Capitalinos' coach Rainel Panfet tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Pinar is looking forward to face Guerreros in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Capitalinos will play against Guantanamo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Avila was also worth to mention about. Tigres (2-0) played at the court of Ciego (0-2). Tigres defeated Ciego 67-57. Forward Yoanis Baldo (191-89) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points. Keiler Cala contributed with 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Guard Dainier Martinez (184-96) replied with 20 points and 4 steals for Ciego. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tigres will play against Santiago (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ciego will play against Villa Clara and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 2 winless Santiago lost to undefeated Matanzas in a road game 94-98.
The best stats of 2nd round was 25 points and 7 steals by Andy Boffil of Villa Clara.

Villa Clara - Guantanamo 92-73

The game with biggest result difference took place in Santa Clara. Local Villa Clara (2-0) outscored Guantanamo (0-2) 92-73 on Friday night. The game was mostly controlled by Villa Clara. Guantanamo managed to win third quarter 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Villa Clara dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Guantanamo's 36 and made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Villa Clara made 10 blocks. Guard Neslier Abreu (187-93) scored 22 points and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and the former international swingman Andy Boffil (190-82) chipped in 25 points and 7 steals during the contest. Five Villa Clara players scored in double figures. Swingman Elvis Pons (194-83) responded with 17 points and 7 rebounds and Daniel Aymericte scored 17 points and 5 steals. Guantanamo's coach Yuniel Cruz let to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Villa Clara will meet Ciego (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Ciego de Avila - Camaguey 57-67

The game in Avila was also worth to mention about. Tigres (2-0) played at the court of Ciego (0-2). Tigres defeated Ciego 67-57. The game was mostly controlled by Tigres. Matanzas - Santiago 98-94

There was no surprise when Santiago (0-2) was defeated on the road by Guerreros (2-0) 98-94 on Friday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 13 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 4 points. Strangely Santiago outrebounded Guerreros 25-12. The former international guard Danys Torrientes (190-85) scored 36 points (!!!) and 6 steals to lead the charge for the winners and Yosniel Moralez chipped in 19 points and 6 steals during the contest. The former international forward Esteban Martinez (192-87) responded with 30 points and Eddy Hechevarria (193-86) scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. Four Guerreros and five Santiago players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Guerreros will meet Pinar (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Santiago will play against Tigres (#1) and hope to win that game.
