An interesting game for Villa Clara (6-0) which played road game in Camaguey against 3rd ranked Tigres (3-3). Top-ranked Villa Clara managed to get a 11-point victory 91-80. The game was mostly controlled by Villa Clara. Tigres managed to win third quarter 30-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Tigres 28-15 including a 19-6 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for the former international swingman Andy Boffil (190-82) who led his team to a victory with 37 points (!!!). International center Yoel Cubillas (204-94) contributed with 16 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Yoimar Lopez (-96) replied with 19 points and 5 steals for Tigres. Tigres' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Undefeated Villa Clara have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-0 record. Tigres at the other side keep the third place with three games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Villa Clara are looking forward to face Guerreros (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Tigres will play against Guantanamo and are hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.

The former international forward Esteban Martinez (192-87) scored 55 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Eddy Siria chipped in 9 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals during the contest. The best for the losing side was the former international swingman Yoanis Soria (195-86) with 30 points and 5 steals. Guantanamo's coach Yuniel Cruz tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Santiago moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Guantanamo at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Santiago will play against league's second-placed Pinar in Rio in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Guantanamo will play at home against Tigres (#3) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
The game in Avila was also quite interesting. Second ranked Pinar (5-1) played at the court of 7th ranked Ciego (1-5). Pinar defeated Ciego 69-55 on Wednesday. Osmel Oliva notched 17 points and 4 steals to lead the effort. Even 21 points by William Granda did not help to save the game for Ciego. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pinar maintains second position with 5-1 record behind leader Villa Clara. Defending champion Ciego keeps the seventh place with five games lost. Pinar will meet at home Santiago (#5) in the next round. Ciego will play against Capitalinos and hope to win that game.

In the last game of round 6 Capitalinos beat Matanzas on the road 73-63.
The most impressive performance of 6th round was 13 points and 6 steals by Yaudelier Suarez of Pinar del Rio.

Camaguey - Villa Clara 80-91

Bottom-ranked Guantanamo is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their sixth consecutive match to sixth ranked Santiago (3-3) 96-84. It looked good early as Guantanamo took a 12-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Santiago took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 12 points. They dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Guantanamo's 46. Santiago forced 19 Guantanamo turnovers. The former international forward Esteban Martinez (192-87) scored 55 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Eddy Siria chipped in 9 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals during the contest. Matanzas - Capitalinos 63-73

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when fifth ranked Capitalinos (3-3) beat on the road one of their biggest challengers Guerreros (3-3) 73-63 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 73-63. Forward Legismel Borlot (195-87) notched 23 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and international forward Karel Guzman (188-95) supported him with 17 points. Even 26 points and 4 steals by the former international guard Danys Torrientes (190-85) did not help to save the game for Guerreros. Yosniel Moralez added 13 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Capitalinos moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Guerreros. Capitalinos will meet Ciego (#7) in the next round. Guerreros will play against the league's leader Villa Clara (#1) in Santa Clara and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The game in Avila was also quite interesting. Second ranked Pinar (5-1) played at the court of 7th ranked Ciego (1-5). Pinar defeated Ciego 69-55 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Pinar. Ciego managed to win fourth quarter 16-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Ciego to just 5 points in second quarter. Pinar forced 20 Ciego turnovers. Strangely Ciego outrebounded Pinar 22-6 including a 19-4 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international point guard Osmel Oliva (178-87) notched 17 points and 4 steals to lead the effort and the former international point guard Yosiel Monterrey (185-88) supported him with 15 points and 6 steals. Even 21 points by the former international William Granda (189-85, agency: Pro Sports) did not help to save the game for Ciego. Forward Dariel Castellanos (198-96) added 10 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pinar maintains second position with 5-1 record behind leader Villa Clara. Villa Clara reach the Finals - 6 days ago
Villa Clara reached the Finals as they overcame Camaguey 3-1 in the semifinal series. In Game 4 Villa Clara posted a 94-74 win. They scored 26 points in the first two quarters for a 52-35 halftime advantage. Camaguey replied with a 23-20 rally in the third period, while Villa Clara closed the game with a final 22-16 run to seal the place in the final.
