The most important game in the last round took place in La Habana between third ranked Tigres (4-4) and fourth ranked Capitalinos (5-3) on Sunday night. Tigres were defeated by Capitalinos on the road 71-61. The game was mostly controlled by Capitalinos. Tigres managed to win fourth quarter 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Capitalinos dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Tigres' 26. They outrebounded Tigres 51-15 including a 18-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was power forward Arlen Alorda (198-86) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. International forward Karel Guzman (188-95) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds. point guard Vladimir Francis (185-83) produced 19 points and 4 steals (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Capitalinos have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Tigres at the other side dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with Matanzas. Capitalinos are looking forward to face league's second-placed Pinar in Rio in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tigres will play on the road against Ciego in Avila and are hoping to win this game.

Guard Neslier Abreu (187-93) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points. Yoel Cubillas contributed with 12 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. Villa Clara's coach Carlos Valle allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international forward Esteban Martinez (192-87) replied with 31 points for Santiago. Undefeated Villa Clara (8-0) have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 8 victories in a row. Santiago at the other side keeps the sixth place with five games lost. Villa Clara will play against bottom-ranked Guantanamo (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Santiago will play against Guerreros and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Avila was also quite interesting. Fifth ranked Guerreros (4-4) played at the court of 7th ranked Ciego (1-7). Guerreros did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 79-62 on Sunday. Worth to mention a great performance of Yuniskel Molina who helped to win the game recording 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Yasser Rodriguez responded with 24 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Guerreros moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Camaguey. Ciego lost third consecutive game. Defending champion keeps the seventh position with seven games lost. Guerreros will meet at home Santiago (#6) in the next round. Ciego will play against Tigres and hope to win that game.

Ciego de Avila - Matanzas 62-79

The game in Avila was also quite interesting. Fifth ranked Guerreros (4-4) played at the court of 7th ranked Ciego (1-7). Guerreros did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 79-62 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Guerreros. Ciego managed to win third quarter 20-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Ciego 38-23 including a 34-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Yuniskel Molina (185-93) who helped to win the game recording 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and Lazro Sanchez who added 19 points during the contest. International point guard Yasser Rodriguez (187-88) responded with 24 points and the former international William Granda (189-85, agency: Pro Sports) scored 12 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Guerreros moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Camaguey. Ciego lost third consecutive game. Defending champion keeps the seventh position with seven games lost. Guerreros will meet at home Santiago (#6) in the next round. Ciego will play against Tigres and hope to win that game.

Ciego de Avila managed to win all the quarters of the game including 20-16 in the start. They added a 22-20 run in the second frame for a 42-36 halftime advantage. Villa Clara reach the Finals - 2 days ago
Villa Clara reached the Finals as they overcame Camaguey 3-1 in the semifinal series. In Game 4 Villa Clara posted a 94-74 win. They scored 26 points in the first two quarters for a 52-35 halftime advantage. Camaguey replied with a 23-20 rally in the third period, while Villa Clara closed the game with a final 22-16 run to seal the place in the final.
