Seventh-ranked Ciego (1-8) gave a tough game to top-ranked Villa Clara (10-0) in Avila on Tuesday. The visitors from Santa Clara managed to secure only three-point victory 87-84. However their fans expected much easier game. The former international swingman Andy Boffil (190-82) scored 30 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and international center Yoel Cubillas (204-94) chipped in 13 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks during the contest. At the losing side the former international William Granda (189-85, agency: Pro Sports) responded with 31 points and 5 steals. Ciego's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Undefeated Villa Clara have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 10-0 record. Ciego lost fourth consecutive game. Defending champion dropped to the sixth place with eight games lost. Villa Clara are looking forward to face Capitalinos (#3) in La Habana in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Ciego will play at home against Santiago and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Tigres (0-9) against sixth ranked Santiago (3-6) on Tuesday night. Visiting Tigres were defeated by Santiago in Santiago 80-70. The former international forward Esteban Martinez (192-87) notched 26 points to lead the effort and Roigelis Ochoa supported him with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Even a double-double of 19 points and 10 steals by point guard Vladimir Francis (185-83) did not help to save the game for Tigres. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Santiago moved-up to fifth place. Tigres at the other side still closes the standings with nine games lost. Santiago will play against Ciego (#6) in Avila in the next round. Tigres will play at home against the league's second-placed Pinar and hope to get finally their first victory.
Bottom-ranked Guantanamo (0-8) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their eighth consecutive match to fourth ranked Capitalinos (5-4) 89-60 on Tuesday evening. Arlen Alorda fired 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Capitalinos' coach Rainel Panfet felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Raudelis Guerra produced a double-double by scoring 26 points, 5 assists and 12 steals for lost side. Capitalinos have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Matanzas. Loser Guantanamo still closes the standings with eight games lost. Capitalinos will meet at home league's leader Villa Clara in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Guantanamo will play against Guerreros (#4) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.

In the last game of round 10 Matanzas lost to Pinar del Rio on the opponent's court 56-67.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 26 points, 6 assists and 15 steals by Osmel Oliva of Pinar del Rio.

The former international point guard Osmel Oliva (178-87) fired a double-double by scoring 26 points, 6 assists and 15 steals for the winners. Jaciel Martinez (190-91) chipped in 13 points and 7 steals. The former international guard Yuniskel Molina (185-93) produced 20 points and 7 rebounds and Yosniel Moralez added 13 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Guerreros' coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Pinar have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 8-1 record having just three points less than leader Villa Clara. Loser Guerreros dropped to the third place with four games lost. They share the position with Capitalinos. Pinar will meet bottom-ranked Tigres (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Guerreros will play against Guantanamo (#7) and hope to secure a win.

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Tigres (0-9) against sixth ranked Santiago (3-6) on Tuesday night. Visiting Tigres were defeated by Santiago in Santiago 80-70. The game was mostly controlled by Santiago. Tigres was better in fourth quarter 31-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Santiago forced 27 Tigres turnovers.
