There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in LSB.

The most exciting game of round 12 in the LSB took place in Rio. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of second-best Pinar (10-2) to top-ranked Villa Clara (12-0) 75-74 in the game for the first place. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Pinar. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-19. But Pinar won second period 16-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Villa Clara forced 21 Pinar turnovers. It was a good game for Osvaldo Perez who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 8 rebounds. The former international swingman Andy Boffil (190-82) contributed with 23 points and 11 steals for the winners. The former international point guard Yosiel Monterrey (185-88) replied with 32 points, 8 assists and 7 steals for Pinar. Undefeated Villa Clara have an impressive 12-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 12-0 record. Pinar at the other side keeps the second place with two games lost. Villa Clara are looking forward to face Tigres (#7) in Camaguey in the next round where they are favorite. Pinar will play on the road against Ciego (#5) in Avila and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
Important game to mention about took place in Avila. Sixth ranked Ciego (3-8) saved a 1-point victory at home edging bottom-ranked Guantanamo (0-11) 69-68 on Friday evening. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Dainier Martinez (184-96) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 4 assists and William Granda who added 16 points and 8 steals during the contest. Ciego's coach Jesus Martus allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was swingman Elvis Pons (194-83) with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds. Defending champion moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Santiago. Guantanamo at the other side still closes the standings with 11 games lost. They share the position with Camaguey. Ciego will play against league's second-placed Pinar in Rio in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Guantanamo will play on the road against Santiago (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
Bottom-ranked Tigres is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 11th consecutive match to third ranked Guerreros (7-4) 80-64 on Friday evening. The winners were led by Yuniskel Molina who scored that evening 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 17 points and 5 steals by Yoimar Lopez did not help to save the game for Tigres. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guerreros have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 7-4 record having six points less than leader Villa Clara. Loser Tigres still closes the standings with 11 games lost. They share the position with Guantanamo. Guerreros will meet at home Capitalinos (#4) in the next round. Tigres will play against the league's leader Villa Clara and look forward to get finally their first victory.
The game in Santiago supposed to be also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked Capitalinos (6-5) played at the court of 5th ranked Santiago (3-8). Capitalinos smashed Santiago 84-56. Santiago will play against Guantanamo and hope to win that game.

Pinar del Rio - Villa Clara 74-75

The game in Santiago supposed to be also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked Capitalinos (6-5) played at the court of 5th ranked Santiago (3-8). Capitalinos smashed Santiago 84-56. The game was mostly controlled by Capitalinos. Santiago was better in third quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Santiago 45-23 including a 32-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Capitalinos brought some defensive toughness making 10 blocks. The best player for the winners was swingman Reinier Castillo (185-76) who scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Hector Martinto (197-94) chipped in 10 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Julio Heredia (183-93) who recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and 5 rebounds and Gonzalo Terres added 15 points and 7 steals respectively. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 11th consecutive match to third ranked Guerreros (7-4) 80-64 on Friday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Guerreros. Tigres managed to win second period 29-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Tigres 29-15 including a 23-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by the former international guard Yuniskel Molina (185-93) who scored that evening 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Yosniel Moralez supported him with 15 points and 7 rebounds.
