Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Cubans who are currently playing abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an international center Javier Justiz (205-92, agency: Pro Sports, currently plays in Argentina). He was the major contributor in a Estudiantes Concordia's victory against the fifth-ranked Quimsa (20-15) 80-73 in the Argentinian LigaA last Saturday. Justiz scored 14 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and made 2 blocks. Estudiantes Concordia (25-13) is placed second in Norte group. Justiz has relatively good stats this season: 13.2ppg, 8.3rpg, 1.3apg, 2.0bpg, 2FGP: 51.9%, 3FGP: 25.0% and FT: 60.5%. He is currently a member of the Cuban senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to former international power forward Grismay Paumier (204-88, currently plays in France). Paumier led SO Maritime Boulogne to an easy victory against the second-ranked Provence Basket (14-5) crushing them 90-69 in the French ProB (second division) on Saturday night. He had a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 10 rebounds. Paumier also added 3 assists and 3 blocks in 32 minutes. SO Maritime Boulogne (7-12) is placed second from the bottom (#17) in the ProB. This year Paumier has relatively solid stats: 11.4ppg, 7.6rpg, 1.1apg, 1.5bpg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 61.6%(93-151) and FT: 49.2% in 19 games he played so far. He played for the Cuban national team in 2009.

   #3. The Cuban player who performed third best last week abroad was former international swingman Yorman Polas Bartolo (192-85, currently plays in FIBA Europe Cup). Bartolo contributed to a Telekom Baskets' victory against the closely-ranked Joensuun Kataja 88-84 in the FIBA Europe Cup in Wednesday night's game. He scored 6 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and dished 3 assists. It was the game of the round between two top 2 ranked teams in group M. Telekom Baskets Bonn (5-1) is placed first. It's Bartolo's first season with the team. Bartolo's overall stats this year are: 5.8ppg, 4.0rpg, 1.9apg, 1.5spg, 2FGP: 35.1%, 3FGP: 47.1%(8-17) and FT: 65.5%. He has a dual citizenship: Cuban and German. Bartolo played for the Cuban national team six years ago.

   #4. Forward Yoanki Mensia (196-97, currently plays in Argentina) managed to help Gimnasia-Indalo Esgr.Comodoro Rivadavia in a victory against the sixth-ranked Olimpico de La Banda (19-18) 74-70 in the Argentinian LigaA last Wednesday. He scored only 2 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 10 minutes. Gimnasia-Indalo Esgr.Comodoro Rivadavia (18-18) is placed fourth in Sur group. This year Mensia's overall stats are: 0.5ppg and 1.5rpg in four games. He is also Cuban national team player.

   #5. An experienced former international forward Georvys Elias (199-81, currently plays in Spain) could not help Albacete (5-17) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Elias' good performance Albacete was defeated 81-72 at home by the much higher-ranked Fontedoso Carrefour (#3). He recorded 11 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Elias has reliable stats this season: 10.1ppg, 6.6rpg, 2.5apg, 1.1bpg and 1.5spg. He used to play for the Cuban national team eight years ago.

   #6. Power forward Georffri Silvestre (202-79, currently plays in Spain) was not able to help Nautico KIA Tenerife (12-7) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his good performance the sixth-placed Nautico KIA Tenerife (12-7) was defeated 78-73 on the road by the higher-ranked La Roda (#5) in the Group B. Silvestre scored 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Silvestre's stats this season are: 14.3ppg and 5.6rpg. He is a former international player as he played for the Cuban senior team seventeen years ago.

   #7. Former international center Rangel Ramirez (206-75, currently plays in Spain) was not able to secure a victory for AEC Collblanc (10-7) in their game against Salt (11-6) in the Spanish EBA (fourth division). Ramirez cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points in 12 minutes. AEC Collblanc (#5) was crushed 76-45 on their home court in LĀ“Hospitalet by the higher-ranked (#4) Salt in the Group C-A. This year Ramirez's total stats are: 6.6ppg and 5.9rpg in 17 games. He used to play for the Cuban national team eleven years ago.

The list of other players, who all have Cuban passport but never been selected to any of Cuban national teams:

   #1. Howard Sant-Roos (200-F-91, currently plays in Basketball Champions League) led his Czech Republic team CEZ Nymburk to an easy victory against the fifth-ranked Banco di Srd (7-7) crushing them 84-63 in the Basketball Champions League in Tuesday night's game. He scored 15 points, grabbed 5 boards, dished 3 assists and stole 3 balls in 32 minutes. CEZ Basketball Nymburk (10-4) is placed third in group A. Sant-Roos has relatively good stats this year: 13.2ppg, 6.8rpg, 3.0apg and 2.5spg in 15 games he played so far.

   #2. Sigal Benitez (193-G-94, currently plays in Spain). Benitez could not help Arenys (9-9) to beat Martorell (13-5). He scored 7 points in 21 minutes. The seventh-placed Arenys (9-9) lost 71-81 at home to the second-ranked Martorell in the Group C-A. This year Benitez's total stats are: 5.6ppg and 2.2rpg in 18 games.

Ciclista Juninense (TNA) signed 22-year old Cuban international forward Karel Guzman (188-95). He played this summer at Capitalinos in Cuban LSB league. In 14 games he had very impressive stats: 17.4ppg, 3.1rpg, 1.6apg and 2.8spg. Guzman helped them to make it to the semifinals. Quite impressive season as he was named to All-Cuban LSB 2nd Team. He also played that season for Capitalinos in Cuban league. A very spectacular season in his career as he was named to Latinbasket.c   [read more]

Howard Sant-Roos (ex CEZ Nymburk) is a newcomer at Darussafaka - 1 month ago
Darussafaka Dogus Istanbul (BSL) strengthened their roster with addition of 26-year old Cuban forward Howard Sant-Roos (200-81kg-91). He has played for the last two years at CEZ Nymburk in NBL league in Czech Republic. In 40 games he recorded 13.6ppg, 6.0rpg, 3.4apg and 2.1spg last season. Marvin Cairo (ex CAN Oruro) signs at Barcelona - 1 month ago
Barcelona Sporting Club (National League) landed 26-year old Cuban swingman Marvin Cairo (201-95kg-91, agency: Pro Sports). He played in the summer at CAN Oruro in Bolivian Libobasquet. Cairo's team made it to the Ecuadorian National League Semifinals in 2016. He is a very experienced player. Cairo has played also professionally in Argentina (Lanus), Mexico (Fuerza Regia and Soles), Ecuador (Universidad Tecnologica Equinoc. Quito and Importadora) and Cuba (Capitalinos).
