There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in LSB.

The game between second ranked Pinar (10-3) and fifth ranked Ciego (4-8) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Pinar was defeated by Ciego in Avila 66-48. The game without a history. Ciego led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. The former international William Granda (189-85, agency: Pro Sports) stepped up and scored 23 points and 6 steals for the winners and guard Dainier Martinez (184-96) chipped in 17 points and 9 steals. At the losing side the former international point guard Osmel Oliva (178-87) responded with 20 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ciego have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains fifth place with 4-8 record, which they share with Santiago. Pinar at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Ciego is looking forward to face higher ranked Capitalinos (#3) in La Habana in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pinar will play at home against Santiago and is hoping to win this game.
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Guerreros (7-5) against fourth ranked Capitalinos (7-5) on Saturday night. Host Guerreros were defeated by Capitalinos in a tough game at home 58-62. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Guerreros. Freddy Maria nailed 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and Jasul Rivero accounted for 14 points. The former international guard Yuniskel Molina (185-93) came up with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 6 rebounds for Guerreros in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Capitalinos moved-up to third place, which they share with Matanzas. Capitalinos will play against Ciego (#5) in Avila in the next round. Guerreros will play on the road against the league's leader Villa Clara in Santa Clara and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
LSB top team - Villa Clara (13-0) added another victory to their record on Saturday. This time they beat seventh ranked Tigres (0-12) in Camaguey 81-74. Osvaldo Perez fired 30 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Yoimar Lopez produced 17 points and 7 steals for lost side. Undefeated Villa Clara have an impressive series of thirteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 13-0 record. Loser Tigres still closes the standings with 12 games lost. They share the position with Guantanamo. Villa Clara will meet at home Guerreros (#4) in the next round. Tigres will play against Guantanamo and hope to get finally their first victory.
Bottom-ranked Guantanamo (0-12) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their 12th consecutive match to sixth ranked Santiago (4-8) 110-92. Worth to mention a great performance of Esteban Martinez who helped to win the game recording 44 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds. Santiago's coach Lazaro Guibot allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Santiago moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Ciego de Avila. Guantanamo lost their twelfth game in a row. They still close the standings with 12 games lost. Santiago's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Pinar in Rio and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Guantanamo will play at home against Tigres (#7) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.

Camaguey - Villa Clara 74-81

LSB top team - Villa Clara (13-0) added another victory to their record on Saturday. This time they beat seventh ranked Tigres (0-12) in Camaguey 81-74. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 44-33 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Villa Clara outrebounded Tigres 28-15 including 23 on the defensive glass. Osvaldo Perez fired 30 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. International center Yoel Cubillas (204-94) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds. Yoimar Lopez (-96) produced 17 points and 7 steals and guard Carlos Villegas (197-94) added 11 points and 4 steals respectively for lost side. Five Tigres players scored in double figures. Villa Clara have an impressive series of thirteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 13-0 record. Loser Tigres still closes the standings with 12 games lost. They share the position with Guantanamo. Villa Clara will meet at home Guerreros (#4) in the next round. Tigres will play against Guantanamo and hope to get finally their first victory.

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Guerreros (7-5) against fourth ranked Capitalinos (7-5) on Saturday night. Host Guerreros were defeated by Capitalinos in a tough game at home 58-62. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Guerreros. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Guerreros won fourth quarter 19-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Guerreros 30-16 including 20 on the defensive glass. Capitalinos brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. Freddy Maria nailed 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and the former international power forward Jasul Rivero (203-93) accounted for 14 points. The former international guard Yuniskel Molina (185-93) came up with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Yasmany Deschapelles (181-85) added 13 points and 8 steals respectively for Guerreros in the defeat. Santiago led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Esteban Martinez (192-87) who helped to win the game recording 44 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds. Point guard Julio Heredia (183-93) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 13 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Santiago's coach Lazaro Guibot allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Swingman Elvis Pons (194-83) answered with 39 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and forward Yuset Tito (197-92) added 14 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Guantanamo.
