The Regular Season in LSB just ended.

Villa Clara (13-1) recorded its first loss in Santa Clara on Sunday night. Hosts were rolled over by fourth ranked Guerreros (8-5) 88-62. It ended at the same time the 13-game winning streak of Villa Clara. Guerreros dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Villa Clara's 40. They outrebounded Villa Clara 41-19 including a 30-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Yuniskel Molina (185-93) who scored 24 points. Lazro Sanchez chipped in 21 points (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Guerreros' coach Jemmott Allen felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International center Yoel Cubillas (204-94) produced 15 points and 8 rebounds for the hosts. Guerreros moved-up to third place, which they share with Capitalinos. Villa Clara at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost.
Another exciting game where seventh ranked Tigres (1-12) edged by one point bottom-ranked Guantanamo (0-13) 62-61. Guantanamo was very close to get their first win. But it seems they have to wait a little bit longer. Forward Yoanis Baldo (191-89) saved the victory by scoring 8 points and 12 rebounds. Vladimir Francis contributed with 13 points for the winners. Tigres' coach Juan Morales allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Guard Raudelis Guerra (191-93) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 steals for Guantanamo. Tigres maintains seventh position with 1-12 record. It was Guantanamo's thirteenth loss in a row. They still close the standings with 13 games lost.
The game in Avila was also quite interesting. Third ranked Capitalinos (8-5) played at the court of 5th ranked Ciego (4-9). Capitalinos managed to secure a 8-point victory 72-64 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Ciego. Legismel Borlot scored 11 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. Capitalinos' coach Rainel Panfet used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. William Granda responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 steals. Capitalinos have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 8-5 record having six points less than leader Villa Clara, which they share with Matanzas. Defending champion Ciego keeps the fifth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Santiago.

In the last game of round 14 Santiago was defeated by Pinar del Rio in a road game 83-65.

Villa Clara - Matanzas 62-88

Four Guantanamo players scored in double figures. Tigres maintains seventh position with 1-12 record. It was Guantanamo's thirteenth loss in a row. They still close the standings with 13 games lost.

There was no surprise in Rio where 6th ranked Santiago (4-9) was defeated by second ranked Pinar (11-3) 83-65 on Sunday. Strangely Santiago outrebounded Pinar 32-10 including a 20-4 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international point guard Osmel Oliva (178-87) had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 steals to lead the charge for the winners and Diagmani Vazquez (192-87) chipped in 16 points and 5 steals (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. Five Pinar players scored in double figures. The former international forward Esteban Martinez (192-87) responded with 25 points and guard Roigelis Ochoa (190-93) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. Pinar maintains second position with 11-3 record having just two points less than leader Villa Clara. Loser Santiago dropped to the fifth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Ciego de Avila.
