The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Villa Clara (13-2) in Santa Clara on Wednesday night. Hosts were rolled over by sixth ranked Santiago (5-9) 91-63. Santiago dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Villa Clara's 32. They outrebounded Villa Clara 31-17 including a 25-7 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for the former international forward Esteban Martinez (192-87) who led his team to a victory with 25 points and 7 rebounds. point guard Julio Heredia (183-93) contributed with 18 points and 4 assists for the winners. Santiago's coach Lazaro Guibot felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international swingman Andy Boffil (190-82) answered with 19 points for Villa Clara. Santiago moved-up to fifth place. Villa Clara at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Santiago are looking forward to face higher ranked Guerreros (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Villa Clara will play against Guantanamo and is hoping to win this game.
Eighth-ranked Guantanamo (0-14) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Pinar (12-3). The visitors from Rio managed to secure only two-point victory 74-72. However their fans expected much easier game. It was a great evening for guard Tomas Blanco (186-90) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Osmel Oliva helped adding 19 points and 6 steals. Pinar's coach Pedro Cobarrubia allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was guard Raudelis Guerra (191-93) with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Pinar maintains second place with 12-3 record behind leader Villa Clara. Guantanamo at the other side still closes the standings with 14 games lost. Pinar will play against Capitalinos (#3) in La Habana in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Guantanamo will play on the road against the league's leader Villa Clara (#1) in Santa Clara and hopes to get finally their first victory.

It was an exceptional evening for Yasmany Deschapelles who led the winners and scored 18 points. Vanier Reyes came up with 8 points and 17 rebounds for Ciego in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Guerreros moved-up to third place, which they share with Capitalinos. Defending champion Ciego dropped to the sixth position with ten games lost. Guerreros will meet at home Santiago (#5) in the next round. Ciego will play against Tigres and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 15 Camaguey were smashed by Capitalinos on the road 82-60.

Villa Clara - Santiago 63-91

The former international guard Yuniskel Molina (185-93) accounted for 16 points for the winning side. Four Guerreros players scored in double figures. Guard Vanier Reyes (193-83) came up with 8 points and 17 rebounds and guard Dainier Martinez (184-96) added 19 points respectively for Ciego in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Guerreros moved-up to third place, which they share with Capitalinos. Capitalinos - Camaguey 82-60

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Capitalinos (9-5) crushed 7th ranked Tigres (1-13) in La Habana 82-60 on Wednesday. Capitalinos dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Tigres' 26. They outrebounded Tigres 38-21 including a 25-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for the former international power forward Jasul Rivero (203-93) who led the winners and scored 26 points and 7 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). International center Abel Font (206-97) accounted for 14 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Yoimar Lopez (-96) came up with 15 points and Ricardo Carmenato added 11 points respectively for Tigres in the defeat. Four Tigres players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Capitalinos have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain third place with 9-5 record having five points less than leader Villa Clara, which they share with Matanzas. Loser Tigres keep the seventh position with 13 games lost. Capitalinos will meet at home league's second-placed Pinar in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tigres will play against Ciego (#6) in Avila and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Ciego de Avila - Santiago De Cuba 81:72 Ciego de Avila advanced to the Final as they edged Santiago De Cuba 81:72 in the decisive game 5. Ciego de Avila managed to win all the quarters of the game including 20-16 in the start. They added a 22-20 run in the second frame for a 42-36 halftime advantage. Villa Clara reach the Finals - 3 days ago
Villa Clara reached the Finals as they overcame Camaguey 3-1 in the semifinal series. In Game 4 Villa Clara posted a 94-74 win. They scored 26 points in the first two quarters for a 52-35 halftime advantage. Camaguey replied with a 23-20 rally in the third period, while Villa Clara closed the game with a final 22-16 run to seal the place in the final.
