Host teams show no mercy winning all games.

The game between Top Four teams took place in La Habana. Third ranked host Capitalinos (10-5) defeated their biggest opponent Pinar (12-4) 66-60. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Pinar. Capitalinos shot 23 for 41 from the free-throw line, while Pinar only scored four points from the stripe. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Jasul Rivero (203-93) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and swingman Reinier Castillo (185-76) who added 8 points and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side guard Tomas Blanco (186-90) responded with 17 points and 4 assists. Capitalinos have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 10-5 record having five points less than leader Villa Clara, which they share with Matanzas. Pinar at the other side keeps the second place with four games lost. Capitalinos is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Guantanamo (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Pinar will play against Guerreros (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The winners were led by Osvaldo Perez who had that evening a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals and Andy Boffil supported him with 27 points and 4 assists. Even 22 points and 6 rebounds by swingman Elvis Pons (194-83) did not help to save the game for Guantanamo. Villa Clara maintains first position with 14-2 record. Guantanamo at the other side still closes the standings with 15 games lost. Villa Clara will play against Ciego (#5) in Avila in the next round. Guantanamo will play at home against Capitalinos and hopes to get finally their first victory.

The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Guerreros have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Capitalinos. Loser Santiago keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. They share it with Ciego de Avila. Guerreros will meet league's second-placed Pinar in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Santiago will play against Tigres and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 16 Camaguey lost to Ciego de Avila on the opponent's court 63-71.

Villa Clara - Guantanamo 102-80

LSB top team - Villa Clara (14-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked Guantanamo (0-15) in Santa Clara 102-80. Villa Clara dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Guantanamo's 50. They outrebounded Guantanamo 30-19. The winners were led by Osvaldo Perez who had that evening a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals and the former international swingman Andy Boffil (190-82) supported him with 27 points and 4 assists. Four Villa Clara players scored in double figures. Even 22 points and 6 rebounds by swingman Elvis Pons (194-83) did not help to save the game for Guantanamo. The game between closely ranked teams ended with 7th ranked Tigres' (1-14) road loss to sixth ranked Ciego (5-10) 63-71 on Thursday. Ciego outrebounded Tigres 50-19 including a 41-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guard Vanier Reyes (193-83) fired 3 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. Guard Dainier Martinez (184-96) chipped in 16 points. Yoimar Lopez (-96) produced 16 points and point guard Vladimir Francis (185-83) added 11 points respectively for lost side. Four Tigres players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Santiago. Loser Tigres keep the seventh position with 14 games lost. Ciclista Juninense (TNA) signed 22-year old Cuban international forward Karel Guzman (188-95). He played this summer at Capitalinos in Cuban LSB league. In 14 games he had very impressive stats: 17.4ppg, 3.1rpg, 1.6apg and 2.8spg. Guzman helped them to make it to the semifinals. Quite impressive season as he was named to Latinbasket.com All-Cuban LSB 2nd Team. He also played that season for Capitalinos in Cuban league. Barcelona Sporting Club (National League) landed 26-year old Cuban swingman Marvin Cairo (201-95kg-91, agency: Pro Sports). He played in the summer at CAN Oruro in Bolivian Libobasquet.
