The game between second ranked Pinar (12-5) and fourth ranked Guerreros (11-5) was the most important one in the last round on Friday night. Pinar was crushed by Guerreros in Rio 64-44. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Pinar's 22. They outrebounded Pinar 28-10. The best player for the winners was Yosniel Moralez who scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. The former international guard Yuniskel Molina (185-93) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. The former international point guard Osmel Oliva (178-87) produced 21 points for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guerreros have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Capitalinos. Pinar at the other side keeps the second position with five games lost.
Leader Villa Clara delivered the fifteenth victory. This time they beat 5th ranked Ciego (5-11) 82-73 in Avila. The former international swingman Andy Boffil (190-82) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points. Neslier Abreu contributed with 12 points for the winners. Guard Dainier Martinez (184-96) answered with 15 points and 4 assists for Ciego. Ciego's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Villa Clara maintains first place with 15-2 record. Defending champion Ciego dropped to the sixth position with 11 games lost.
Bottom-ranked Guantanamo (0-16) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 73-65 loss to third ranked Capitalinos (11-5) in Guantanamo on Friday evening. Freddy Maria stepped up and scored 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Capitalinos' coach Rainel Panfet used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Elvis Pons responded with 31 points and 8 rebounds. Capitalinos have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain third place with 11-5 record having five points less than leader Villa Clara, which they share with Matanzas. Loser Guantanamo still closes the standings.

In the last game of round 17 Camaguey were defeated by Santiago in a road game 81-66.

Ciego de Avila - Villa Clara 73-82

Leader Villa Clara delivered the fifteenth victory. This time they beat 5th ranked Ciego (5-11) 82-73 in Avila. Villa Clara forced 20 Ciego turnovers. Strangely Ciego outrebounded Villa Clara 38-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. The former international swingman Andy Boffil (190-82) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points. Guard Neslier Abreu (187-93) contributed with 12 points for the winners. Guard Dainier Martinez (184-96) answered with 15 points and 4 assists and guard Davisley Granados (185-83) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Ciego. Ciego's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Villa Clara maintains first place with 15-2 record. Defending champion Ciego dropped to the sixth position with 11 games lost.

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 7th ranked Tigres' (1-15) road loss to sixth ranked Santiago (6-10) 66-81 on Friday. Santiago dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Tigres' 36. Santiago forced 20 Tigres turnovers. The former international forward Esteban Martinez (192-87) stepped up and scored 34 points (!!!) for the winners and guard Roigelis Ochoa (190-93) chipped in 14 points and 10 rebounds. Four Santiago players scored in double figures. Guard Carlos Villegas (197-94) responded with 15 points and forward Yoanis Baldo (191-89) scored 8 points and 13 rebounds. Tigres' coach tested eleven players saving starting five for next games. Santiago moved-up to fifth place. Tigres lost their third game in a row. They keep the seventh position with 15 games lost.
