Here is the weekly review of the top performing Cuban players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an international center Javier Justiz (205-92, agency: Pro Sports, currently plays in Argentina). He could not help Estudiantes Concordia (29-15) in their last game on Tuesday. Despite Justiz's very good performance the second-placed Estudiantes Concordia (29-15) was edged 95-94 on the road by the much lower-ranked Atenas (#9) in the Norte group. He recorded 15 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Justiz has relatively good stats this season: 13.3ppg, 8.4rpg, 1.2apg, 2.0bpg, 2FGP: 52.5%, 3FGP: 23.1% and FT: 60.9%. He is currently a member of the Cuban senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to former international guard Reynaldo Garcia (187-90, agency: DTMones, currently plays in Argentina). Garcia was the major contributor in a San Martin Corrientes' victory against the second-ranked Ferrocarril (27-16) 77-65 in the Argentinian LigaA on Thursday night. He recorded 13 points and added 3 passes in 23 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in group Norte. San Martin Corrientes (30-10) is placed first. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. It's Garcia's first season with the team. This year Garcia has relatively solid stats: 11.4ppg, 3.3rpg, 2.1apg, 2.0spg, 2FGP: 52.2%, 3FGP: 27.0% and FT: 68.6% in 35 games he played so far. He played for the Cuban national team in 2009.

   #3. The Cuban player who performed third best last week abroad was former international swingman Yorman Polas Bartolo (192-85, currently plays in Germany). Bartolo led Telekom Baskets to a victory against the closely-ranked EnBW Ludwigsburg (13-13) 90-86 in the German BBL in Sunday night's game. He scored 12 points, had 6 rebounds and dished 4 assists. Telekom Baskets Bonn (15-10) is placed sixth in the BBL. This season Bartolo averages: 7.3ppg, 3.6rpg, 1.7apg, 2FGP: 68.1%(62-91), 3FGP: 15.8% and FT: 63.5%. He has a dual citizenship: Cuban and German. Bartolo played for the Cuban national team six years ago.

   #4. Forward Yoanki Mensia (196-97, currently plays in Argentina) contributed to a GECR Indalo's victory against the sixth-ranked Quimsa (23-22) 94-80 in the Argentinian LigaA last Monday. He recorded 6 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 15 minutes. Gimnasia-Indalo Esgr.Comodoro Rivadavia (22-21) is placed fourth in Sur group. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. This year Mensia's overall stats are: 1.1ppg and 1.6rpg in nine games. He is also Cuban national team player.

Former international power forward Grismay Paumier (204-88, currently plays in France) helped SO Maritime Boulogne win their game against the league leader JL Bourg (17-7) 86-77 in the French ProB (second division) last Saturday. Paumier scored 14 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. SO Maritime Boulogne (9-15) is placed second from the bottom (#17) in the ProB. They ended the series of three consecutive loses. Paumier has reliable stats this season: 11.0ppg, 7.2rpg and 1.3bpg. He used to play for the Cuban national team eight years ago.

   #6. An experienced center Rangel Ramirez (206-75, currently plays in Spain) was not able to help AEC Collblanc (10-11) in their last game. Despite his good performance AEC Collblanc (#8) lost 75-87 at home to the higher-ranked (#7) Cornella in the Group C-A. Ramirez had a double-double by scoring 11 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added 2 blocks in a mere 19 minutes. It was AEC Collblanc's sixth consecutive loss in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. This year Ramirez's total stats are: 7.1ppg and 6.2rpg in 21 games. He is a former international player as he played for the Cuban senior team eleven years ago.

Former international point guard Taylor Garcia (182-87, currently plays in Spain) was not able to secure a victory for Quintanar (11-13) in their game against Lanzarote (9-15) in the Spanish EBA (fourth division). Despite his very good performance on Saturday night Garcia recorded 14 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Garcia's stats this season are: 14.0ppg, 2.9rpg, 3.1apg and 1.3spg. He used to play for the Cuban national team eight years ago.

Power forward Georffri Silvestre (202-79, currently plays in Spain) helped Nautico KIA Tenerife win their game against the eighth-ranked CBA Gran Canaria B (14-11) 76-60 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) in Saturday night's game. Silvestre recorded 15 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 28 minutes. Nautico KIA Tenerife (15-8) is placed sixth in Group B. Silvestre's stats this year are: 14.4ppg and 5.9rpg in 23 games. He used to play for the Cuban national team back in 2000.

   #9. Former international forward Georvys Elias (199-81, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Albacete (6-20) in their game against Navarra (14-12) in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division). Elias scored 9 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. But the bottom-ranked Albacete was defeated 74-67 on their home court in Albacete by the much higher-ranked Navarra (#8). There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. Elias has averaged so far 9.7ppg, 6.7rpg, 2.3apg and 1.5spg. He used to play for the Cuban national team eight years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Cuban passport but never been selected to any of Cuban national teams:

   #1. Howard Sant-Roos (200-F-91, currently plays in Czech Republic) contributed to an easy victory against the third-ranked BK Decin (17-13) crushing them 111-75 in the Czech Republic NBL in Saturday night's game. He recorded 7 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals in 23 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in group Places 1-6. CEZ Basketball Nymburk (28-1) is placed first. It was his team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the Second Stage. So now every game will be critical. Sant-Roos has relatively good stats this year: 13.4ppg, 5.7rpg, 3.5apg and 2.2spg in 26 games he played so far.

   #2. Adrian Diaz (213-C-93, college: FIU, currently plays in Romania) could not help BC Timisoara (12-13) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite Diaz's very good performance BC Timisoara (#5) was defeated 90-85 at home by the second-ranked CSU Sibiu in the Places 1-6 group. He was the second best scorer with 19 points. Diaz also added 9 rebounds. There are only three games left until the end of the Second Stage. So now every game is very crucial. Diaz has reliable stats this season: 10.3ppg and 5.0rpg. He has a dual citizenship: Cuban and American. Strangely Diaz has never played in Cuba.

   #3. Juan Ferrales (188-G-91, college: Barry, currently plays in Norway) was not able to help Kongsberg (23-4) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the league leader Kongsberg was edged 86-84 on the road by the lower-ranked (#5) Centrum. Ferrales was the top scorer with 24 points. He also added 7 boards, dished 5 assists and stole 5 balls in 45 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Ferrales' second season in pro basketball. Ferrales has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 23.5ppg, 5.5rpg, 5.2apg and 1.8spg in 31 games. Ferrales is another player who holds two passports: Cuban and American. Strangely he has never played in Cuba.

   #4. Yankiel Moreno (189-G-90, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in Italy) was not able to secure a victory for Bondi Ferrara (11-15) in their game against Piacenza (12-14) in the Italian Serie A2 (second division). Moreno scored 9 points, grabbed 6 boards, dished 11 assists and stole 6 balls in 43 minutes. But Bondi Ferrara (#12) was edged 84-81 in Casalpusterlengo by the higher-ranked (#10) Piacenza in the East group. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. This year Moreno's total stats are: 7.2ppg, 3.0rpg, 6.2apg and 1.4spg in 23 games. He has both Cuban and Italian nationalities. Despite Moreno's Cuban passport, he previously played for the Italian U18 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Cuban team.

   #5. Sigal Benitez (193-G-94, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Arenys (11-11) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Benitez's very good performance Arenys (#6) was defeated 69-59 on their home court in Arenys del Mar by the lower-ranked JAC Sants (#11) in the Group C-A. He was the top scorer with 15 points. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be extremely important. Benitez's total stats this season are: 6.0ppg and 2.0rpg.
