We bring you last week's top performances from Cubans who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

Reynaldo Garcia
Reynaldo Garcia
#1. This week's number one is former international guard Reynaldo Garcia (187-90, currently plays in Argentina). He was the major contributor in a San Martin Corrientes' victory against the closely-ranked Atenas (1-1) 109-92 in the Argentinian LigaA in Friday night's game. Garcia recorded 21 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists in 24 minutes on the court. It was his first game for San Martin Corrientes this season. His team is placed eighth in the LigaA. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Garcia played for the Cuban senior national team eight years ago.

Javier Justiz
Javier Justiz
#2. Second place goes to an international center Javier Justiz (205-92, agency: Pro Sports, currently plays in Argentina). He led San Lorenzo to an easy victory against the 14th-ranked Weber Bahia (1-3) crushing them 94-72 in the Argentinian LigaA on Wednesday night. Justiz recorded 13 points in a mere 16 minutes. San Lorenzo de Almagra (3-0) is placed first in the LigaA. So far his team won all three games in the Regular Season. But the season just started, so everything may happen. This year Justiz averages: 7.3ppg, 5.3rpg, 2FGP: 53.3% in three games he played so far. He is in the roster of the Cuban senior national team.

Karel Guzman
Karel Guzman
#3. The Cuban player who performed third best last week abroad was an international forward Karel Guzman (188-95, currently plays in Argentina). Guzman led Ciclista to a victory against the fifth-ranked Villa Mitre CF (7-6) 76-72 in the Argentinian TNA (second division) last Friday. He scored 21 points, had 9 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 40 minutes. Ciclista Juninense (7-4) is placed third in Center South group. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Guzman has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 16.2ppg, 5.1rpg, 2.3apg, 1.5spg, 2FGP: 57.3%(43-75), 3FGP: 35.6% and FT: 63.8% in 11 games. Guzman is also a member of the Cuban senior national team.

Yorman Polas Bartolo
Yorman Polas Bartolo
#4. Swingman Yorman Polas Bartolo (192-85, currently plays in Germany). He could not help one of league's weakest teams Telekom Baskets (6-5) to beat Brose Baskets (6-4). Bartolo scored 5 points, made 3 passes and 3 steals. Telekom Baskets was badly defeated 83-65 on the road by the higher-ranked Brose Baskets (#6). But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. Bartolo's overall stats this season are: 10.0ppg, 4.4rpg, 2.2apg and 1.8spg. He has a dual citizenship: Cuban and German. Bartolo used to play for the Cuban national team back in 2011.

Grismay Paumier
Grismay Paumier
#5. Former international power forward Grismay Paumier (204-88, currently plays in France) led Saint Chamond to a victory over the 14th-ranked Denain Voltaire (2-5) 90-78 in the French ProB (second division) last Friday. He was MVP of the game. Paumier recorded 23 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Saint Chamond Basket Valle du Gier (4-3) is placed seventh in the ProB. Paumier has relatively good stats this season: 13.7ppg and 6.9rpg. He used to play for the Cuban national team eight years ago.

Yoanki Mensia
Yoanki Mensia
#6. Forward Yoanki Mensia (196-97, currently plays in Argentina) managed to help Gimnasia-Indalo Esgr.Comodoro Rivadavia in a victory against the 16th-ranked Quilmes MP (0-1) 94-82 in the Argentinian LigaA on Saturday night. Mensia scored only 2 points in 6 minutes on the court. It was his first game for GECR Indalo this season. His team is placed fourth in the LigaA. It's Mensia's first year with the team. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Cuban National Team roster.

Georvys Elias
Georvys Elias
#7. An experienced former international forward Georvys Elias (199-81, currently plays in Spain) contributed to a 1-point Albacete's victory against the 13th-ranked Plasencia (4-7) 77-76 in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division) last Saturday. Elias scored 11 points and added 3 assists in 34 minutes. Arcos Albacete Basket (8-3) is placed second in the LEB Silver. This year Elias has relatively solid stats: 10.8ppg, 6.3rpg and 3.0apg in 11 games. He used to play for the Cuban national team eight years ago.

#8. Forward Juan Luis Alvarez (198-87, currently plays in Uruguay) was not able to help one of league's weakest teams Bohemios in their game against Trouville (4-5) in the Uruguayan LUB. Alvarez was the second best scorer with 7 points. Bohemios was crushed 108-47 in a derby game by the higher-ranked Trouville (#10). His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. Alvarez's overall stats this season are: 3.1ppg and 2.8rpg. He used to play for the Cuban national team back in 2006.

The list of other players, who all have Cuban passport but never been selected to any of Cuban national teams:

#1. Howard Sant-Roos (200-F-91, currently plays in Turkey) managed to help Darussafaka Dogus Istanbul to win against the closely-ranked Eskisehir Basket (6-3) 90-83 in the Turkish BSL last Tuesday. He scored 5 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Darussafaka Dogus Istanbul (5-4) is placed sixth in the BSL. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Sant-Roos' first season with the team. This year Sant-Roos averages: 7.0ppg, 5.3rpg and 2.8apg.

#2. Adrian Diaz (213-C-93, college: FIU, currently plays in Romania) led BC Timisoara to a 3-point victory over the eighth-ranked Steaua CSM (4-3) 86-83 in the Romanian Liga Nationala in Friday night's game. Diaz was MVP of the game. He recorded 22 points and grabbed 5 rebounds; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Diaz's second season in pro basketball. BC Timisoara (5-2) is placed third in the Liga Nationala. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. Diaz has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 15.7ppg, 5.1rpg and 1.6apg. Diaz has a dual citizenship: Cuban and American. Strangely he has never played in Cuba.

#3. Juan Ferrales (187-G-91, college: Barry, currently plays in Norway) was the major contributor in Kongsberg's victory against the sixth-ranked Fyllingen BBK (6-8) 98-90 in the Norwegian BLNO in Saturday night's game. He recorded 19 points, 8 assists and 3 steals in 38 minutes; not bad, considering it's only Ferrales' third season in pro basketball. Kongsberg Miners (10-3) is placed second in the BLNO. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Ferrales has very impressive stats this year: 22.8ppg, 5.3rpg, 6.9apg and 1.4spg in 13 games he played so far. He is another player who holds two passports: Cuban and American. Strangely Ferrales has never played in Cuba.

#4. Yankiel Moreno (189-G-90, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in Italy). Moreno could not help Kleb Ferrara (5-5) to beat Alma Trieste (9-0). He recorded 8 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. The eighth-placed Kleb Ferrara (5-5) was defeated 81-74 at home by the leading Alma Trieste in the East group. It was Kleb Ferrara's first loss after three consecutive victories. Moreno's overall stats this season are: 7.9ppg, 3.3rpg, 4.5apg and 1.4spg. He has both Cuban and Italian nationalities. Despite Moreno's Cuban passport, he previously played for the Italian U18 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Cuban team.

#5. Ismael Romero (203-C-91, agency: Paris Global Sports, currently plays in Israel) was not able to help Hap.Haifa (5-2) in their last game. Despite Romero's very good performance Hap.Haifa was edged 78-75 on the road by the second-ranked Maccabi K/G. He had a double-double by scoring 20 points and getting 14 rebounds. Romero also added 4 assists in 33 minutes. Romero has very impressive stats this year: 23.7ppg, 10.4rpg, 2.4apg and 1.4spg in seven games.
