Sameji
wins Santiago League... again
Last night,
Sameji made history winning 82-79, in a thriller of a game, in
front of a packed Palacio de los Deportes.
Led by the efforts of
Marlon Martinez (204-F/C-77, agency:
Duran International) who notched 25 pts & 10 rebs in a
blistering 40 mins on the court, the game was decided in the final
:45 seconds. In fact, all but one of the games in this year's Final
Serie have been decided by 5 points or less.
Amaury Filion (206-C/F-81) added 15 pts & 7 rebs as did
Joel Ramirez (191-G-81) with 13 points.
The true story of the game lies with
Jose Rodriguez (180-G-80) 15 pts. "Samosa" shot an amazing 3 of
3 from behind the 3pt line. In the other games were there was a
Sameji prescence aside from the "National Team Trio",
Sameji emerged victorious and in those other occasions, it was
always the efforts of "Samosa" Rodriguez.
For CUPES, who battled until the very end of the contest, they were
led by former National Team mamber
Fausto Alex Sime (192-G-79) who had 24 pts & 8 rebs.
Manuel Guzman (203-F-82, college:
Bemidji St.) 21 pts (2 of 2 from 3) and
Jitim Young (188-G-81, agency:
Priority Sports, college:
Northwestern) 15 pts
Santiago 3pt shooting champion,
Osvaldo Lopez (189-G/F-83) was held to only 9 pts on 2 of 9
shooting from 3, facing an array of different defenders the entire
night!
Sameji wins their 8th title in the Santiago Regional Tourneo…and
their unprecedented 4th consecutive championship!Congratulations

team coming out from the fusion of three clubs named Savica, Mejoramiento Social
and el Ejido, won the Santiago Regional Tournment for the seventh time and the
second in a row, defeating Plaza Valerio 77-74 in Game 5, after coming back from
a -21 deficit. The game best players was

Ramirez (191-G-81), who scored 26 points and who was named the Finals MVP.
