Plaza wins the SRT title - May 5, 2011

Plaza Fernando Valerio is the new SRT champion. They managed to beat CDP 83-80 in Game Five and to win the Finals series with almost perfect 4-1. Last time Plaza won the title in 2003. Before that, they were championship winners in 1981, 1982, 1983, 1986 and 1989. Edward Santana (203-F-80) was the leading player in Game Five with 25 points. Juan Pablo Montas (198-F-84) followed him with 21 points and Andres Sandoval (192-G-83) added 16. In the loosing squad, Adris Deleon (180-G-84, college: E.Washington) delivered 22 pts. Marlon Martinez (204-F/C-79) stopped on 17. It was a very exciting meeting. The hosts made 23-16 in the first quarter, but CDP tied the score to 42-42 until the halftime. Teams were tied in the finish as well (80-80), before Edward Santana stepped up for the hosts and brought them crucial 83-80 win.
In Game Four Plaza also scored 83 points, while CDP was stopped to 78.
