Fernandez inaugurates remodeled Mauricio Baez
President Fernandez inaugurated public works in Santo Domingo and Moca yesterday, Wednesday 27 June.
In Santo Domingo, he attended the inauguration of the remodeling of the Metropolitanos de Mauricio Baez sports facility in Villa Juana with a capacity for 1,500 seated fans. As reported by the Presidency, Fernandez encouraged young people to organize themselves and unite to make their dreams a reality. He thanked club advisor Leo Corporan for the invitation and said the installation was the fruit of many years of efforts by local youth. He threw the first basketball for a children's basketball exhibition game and received a club T-shirt. The Supervisory Office of Public Works of the Presidency was responsible for the remodeling work. At the event, Frank Ceara, Laura Rivera, Hector Anibal and Carolina Rivas sang the National Anthem and "Yes It Can be Done" (Si se puede).

Fernandez yesterday was in the north-central province of Espaillat (Moca) for the public opening of a multi-sports facility costing RD$54 million, a housing project in Guama Abano costing RD$74.6 million, and four grade schools with capacity for 840 students in 24 classrooms at La Penda, Josefa del Carmen Liriano, Profesora Angelina Bencosme and Sor Pura Caamano, which cost a reported RD$56 million.
