Venezuela - Dominican Republic 84:88 (OT)

Dominican Republic celebrated the second victory at the Super 4 Israel Sarmiento Cup tournament in Venezuela. They outgunned hosting Venezuela in an exciting clash in the final round. Both teams finished the tourney at 2-1 record, while Venezuela clinched the title.
Greivis Vasquez (198-PG-87, agency: Interperformances, college: Maryland) dominated the first half. The guard scored 16 points to put Venezuela in charge. The hosts established a 42:32 halftime lead. Dominican Republic also lost Jack Michael Martinez who was ejected after arguing with the referees. However Dominican Republic found the way to bounce back. Elpidio Fortuna (186-G-85) unloaded 10 points in the third quarter as Dominican Republic drew things level at 57 at the break. Dominican Republic pulled in front late in regulation after a basket by Guzman. But Greivis Vasquez drained a late triple to send the game into overtime. Edgar Sosa (188-PG-88, college: Louisville) stepped up for Dominican Republic in extra period sealing a tough win at the end. Ronald Ramon (185-G-86, college: Pittsburgh) provided 22 points to lead the charge. Elpidio Fortuna added 15 points, while Alfred Horford (208-F/C-86, college: Florida) connected for 13 points for the winners. Greivis Vasquez answered with game-high 31 points for Venezuela.

Santiago League Round 8: Top-ranked GUG wins another game - 1 day ago
Here is the last round review presented by ESL. Santiago League top team - GUG (4-1) managed to deliver another win on Sunday. This time they beat sixth ranked Cupes (0-5) in Santiago 120-107. GUG maintains first position with 4-1 record. Cupes at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. Here is the last round review presented by ESL. Santiago League round 7 most important game was a victory of Plaza over 5th ranked Pueblo Nuevo 109-99 on Friday night. Plaza (3-2) moved-up to second place, which they share with CDP and Sameji. Pueblo Nuevo at the other side keeps the fifth position with three games lost. DENZEL BOWLES San Lazaro (District National) landed 28-year old American power forward Denzel Bowles (208-116kg-89, college: JMU, agency: Dutt Sports Services).
