Tjoe de
Paula
The Bright Kings Den Helder (Eredivisie) signed experienced 36-year old naturalized Dominican point guard Tjoe de Paula (185-81, agency: Court Side). It is actually his comeback to Den Helder as he has played here before. de Paula played last season at Donar Groningen in the Eredivisie. He managed to play in three leagues last year. In 34 Eredivisie games he had 5.4ppg, 1.3rpg and 1.3apg. Eredivisie will be definitely a better match and he can see more playing time. de Paula helped them to win the league title (twice) and the Supercup (also twice). de Paula also played 10 games in FIBA Europe Cup where he recorded just 1.8ppg. And finally he contributed to 2 games in Basketball Champions League, but he did not score anything and had only 1 rebound and 1 assist.
de Paula is quite experienced player. He has played in four different countries on three different continents (Europe, Latin America and of course North America). de Paula has played previously professionally in Belgium (Basic Fit Brussels), Dominican Rep., Holland (Leeuwarden, Almere and De Hoppers) and Dominican Republic (Gregorio Urbano Gilbert).
It's very possible he may end his playing career at Den Helder.
de Paula could be described: Left-handed guard who can play either back court position. Very creative player with excellent one-on-one skills. Exciting player to watch in the open court because of his athletic ability. Has a strong drive to the basket. Not afraid of contact and likes to be in traffic. Very good 3-point shooter with a good feeling to get open. Can shoot off the dribble as well but does a better job "catch-and-shoot". Needs to work on his right hand. Has good overall skills and fundamentals. Improved dramatically on the defensive side of the floor. Can still improve at this end, especially at his foot speed at times. Nice rebounder for his size and his position and not afraid to make contact. Draws a lot of fouls at the offensive end because he players with no fear.

The Bright Kings Den Helder roster for 2017-2018:

Guards:
Tjoe de_Paula
LaVonte Dority

Forward:
Alex Laurent

Centers:
Tom Koopman
Dyon Halman
Quinterian McConico
