Blake Walker
GIE Maile Matrix signed experienced 35-year old swingman Blake Walker (197-82, college: Portland State, agency: Pro Sports) for the 2018 Copa Mitchell Cup. He played most recently at Gaiteros in Venezuelan LPB league, but was released by the team in Mar.'16. In 13 games he had 13.3ppg, 5.5rpg and 2.2apg in 2015-16 season.

"If we want to win the event again we need Blake", said head coach D.J. Douglas . Losing Keith Closs (7'4''-C-76, college: Cent.Conn.St.) and Terrence Shannon (6'8''-F-79, college: Elgin CC) hurts our chances of defending our title. We need an electrifying player like Blake Walker to play along side Jermaine Barnes (6'4''-G/F-83, college: Point, GA, agency: Gamble Sports Management).

Part of previous (2015) summer Walker spent at Universidad Tecnologica Equinoc. Quito in Ecuadorian league where in three Liga Sudamericana games he recorded very impressive stats: 18.0ppg, 6.7rpg, 1.0apg, 1.0spg and 1.0bpg in 2015 season. He also played that season for Sameji (Santiago League) in Dominican Republic. Walker helped them to make it to the final after they ended regular season as second best team.

The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others he was voted Latinbasket.com Venezuelan LPB Awards All-Imports Team back in 2011 and 2012.

Walker is quite experienced player. He has played also professionally in Argentina, Colombia (Guerreros), Germany, Mexico (Fuerza Guinda Nogales and Jefes), Portugal, Puerto Rico, Uruguay (Union Atletica) and Dominican Republic (Huracanes del Atlantico).

Walker is close to retirement age as a player. It's very possible he may end his playing career at Matriz.

Walker attended Portland State until 2005 and it will be his 13th (hopefully lucky) (!!!) season as a professional player.

He could be described: Blake is an explosive and talented player. He has learned to be more consistent, and his basketball I.Q. and maturity have really improved.

Has the ability to score in many different ways and can defend multiple positions, making him even more valuable

In 8 LNB games he had 14.3ppg, 9.0rpg, 2.1apg, 1.3spg and 2.4bpg. The last season he played at Magnolia Hotshots in Filipino PBA where in 8 games he recorded very impressive stats:...   [read more]

Sammy Mejia's double-double lands him Player of the Week award among Dominicans playing currently abroad: - 9 days ago
We bring you last week's top performances from Dominicans who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level. Karl-Anthony Towns (213-F/C-95) could not help the Minnesota Timberwolves (35-25) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the Minnesota Timberwolves (35-25) were badly defeated 126-108 on the road by the Houston Rockets.    [read more]
