Plaza Valerio - GIE Maile Matrix 72-80

GIE Maile Matrix rallied past Plaza Valerio to open win count in Group A. Jermaine Barnes (193-G/F-83, college: Point, GA, agency: Gamble Sports Management) scored 33 points and grabbed 8 rebounds for the winners. Plaza jumped to a 26:15 lead ten minutes into the game. Barnes scored 10 points to close the game for the win. Terrence Shannon (203-F-79, college: Elgin CC) netted 16 points and 7 rebounds in the victory. Big man Keith Closs (224-C-76, college: Cent.Conn.St.) added 10 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks. Jose Americo Delgado responded with 21 points for Plaza.

Atlanta Legends - Cupes 71-69

Legends victoriously opened Copa Mitchell campaign. They defeated Cupes in Group B opener. Tony Omotayo (196-G/F-85, college: Ft.Valley St.) nailed 30 points to lead the hosts. Legends secured a 48:37 halftime lead. Cupes pulled within 6 points at the final break. With the game on the line Xavier Rogers (188-G, college: Xavier, LA) nails the game winning shot with two seconds remaining. . Xavier Rogers finished with 16 points in the victory. Mariano Pena (194-F-79) responded with 20 points and 6 rebounds for Cupes.

Cleveland Havok - Sameji 62-76

Sameji rallied past Cleveland Havok to open win count in Group A. Amaurys Fermin (191-PG-87, college: Cal Poly - SLO) nailed 22 points to lead the hosts. Sameji jumped to a 26:15 lead ten minutes into the game. The home side unloaded 51 points in the second half and cruised to a comfortable win. Sterling Giron (187-G-85) netted 13 points in the victory. Tyler Shular (190-G/F, college: Fisher) responded with 15 points for Havok.

We bring you last week's top performances from Dominicans who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level. Karl-Anthony Towns (213-F/C-95) could not help the Minnesota Timberwolves (35-25) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the Minnesota Timberwolves (35-25) were badly defeated 126-108 on the road by the Houston Rockets.    [read more]
