Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Dominicans who are currently playing abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is former international forward Trevor Ariza (203-85, college: UCLA, currently plays in NBA). He could not help the Houston Rockets (52-25) in their last game on Thursday. Despite Ariza's very good performance the Houston Rockets (52-25) were defeated 117-107 on the road by the Portland Trail Blazers. He was the second best scorer with 17 points. Ariza also added 5 rebounds. Ariza has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 11.8ppg, 5.7rpg, 2.1apg, 1.9spg, 2FGP: 56.3%(126-224), 3FGP: 35.1% and FT: 74.2%. Ariza has a dual citizenship: Dominican Republic and American. He played for the Dominican Republic senior national team twelve years ago. Strangely Ariza has never played in Dominican Republic.

   #2. Second place goes to an experienced former international swingman Sammy Mejia (198-83, college: De Paul, currently plays in Turkey). He was not able to help Tofas (10-14) in their last game. Despite Mejia's good performance Tofas lost 75-90 in Istanbul to the second-ranked Fenerbahce. He was the second best scorer with 13 points. Mejia also added 6 passes in 37 minutes. It was Tofas' third consecutive loss in a row. Mejia has relatively good stats this year: 14.5ppg, 4.9rpg, 3.5apg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 62.5%(75-120), 3FGP: 44.1% and FT: 73.3% in 24 games he played so far. He is another player who holds two passports: Dominican Republic and American. Mejia played for the Dominican Republic national team in 2005. Apparently he has never played in Dominican Republic.

   #3. The Dominican Republic player who performed third best last week abroad was former international shooting guard Jeff Greer (196-79, college: Rutgers, currently plays in France). Greer contributed to an easy victory against the 14th-ranked Chorale de Roanne (10-15) 85-68 in the French ProB (second division) in Friday night's game. He recorded 8 points and added 4 assists. Union Poitiers Basket 86 (14-12) is placed eighth in the ProB. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Greer's fourth season with the team. Greer's overall stats this year are: 3.2ppg, 1.5rpg, 1.7apg, 2FGP: 31.8%, 3FGP: 29.8% and FT: 72.7%. He has both American and Dominican Republic nationalities. Greer played for the Dominican Republic national team eight years ago. He used to play for Cocolos de San Pedro de Macoris in Dominican Republic league.

   #4. Power forward Jose Cabrera (206-84, currently plays in Spain) contributed to Mataro's victory against the tenth-ranked Sant Nicolau (10-13) 68-61 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) on Sunday night. Cabrera scored 7 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and made 3 blocks. Feimat Mataro (9-14) is placed 13th in Group C-A. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Cabrera's overall stats this season are: 8.8ppg, 8.0rpg and 1.1apg. He used to play for the Dominican Republic national team back in 2006.


The list of other players, who all have Dominican Republic passport but never been selected to any of Dominican Republic national teams:

   #1. Karl-Anthony Towns (213-F/C-95, college: Kentucky, currently plays in NBA) led Minnesota Timberwolves to a 1-point victory over the Indiana Pacers (38-40) 115-114 in the NBA in Tuesday night's game. He was MVP of the game. Towns had a double-double by scoring 37 points and getting 12 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) in 41 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his second season in pro basketball. The Minnesota Timberwolves have 31-46 record this season. Towns has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 24.8ppg, 12.0rpg, 2.7apg and 1.3bpg in 77 games he played so far. Towns has a dual citizenship: Dominican Republic and American. Strangely he has never played in Dominican Republic.

   #2. James Feldeine (193-G-88, college: Quinnipiac, currently plays in Greece) was the major contributor in Panathinaikos' victory against the tenth-ranked Aiolos Trikallon (9-15) crushing them 93-63 in the Greek A1 last Monday. Feldeine scored 15 points. Panathinaikos Athens (23-1) is placed second in the A1. It was his team's 11th consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This season Feldeine averages: 8.3ppg, 1.8rpg and 1.9apg. He is another player who holds two passports: Dominican Republic and American. Strangely Feldeine has never played in Dominican Republic.

   #3. Edgar Sosa (190-PG-88, college: Louisville, currently plays in Lebanon) led Al Riyadi to an easy victory against the third-ranked Tadamon (9-13) crushing them 113-67 in the Lebanese Pepsi LBL on Tuesday night. He recorded 16 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals in 29 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in Group B. Sporting Al Riyadi Beirut (6-0) is placed first. So far his team won all six games in the Second Stage. There are only two games left until the end of the Second Stage. So now every game is very crucial. Sosa has relatively good stats this year: 12.0ppg, 2.5rpg, 6.5apg and 1.5spg in four games. He has both American and Dominican Republic nationalities. Sosa used to play for Leones de Santo Domingo in Dominican Republic league.

   #4. Eloy Vargas (211-C-88, agency: Duran International, college: Kentucky, currently plays in Argentina) led GECR Indalo to a victory over the tenth-ranked Echague (8-36) 91-82 in the Argentinian LigaA in Friday night's game. He was MVP of the game. Vargas scored 17 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Gimnasia-Indalo Esgr.Comodoro Rivadavia (24-22) is placed third in Sur group. It's Vargas' first season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year: 13.7ppg, 7.7rpg and 1.1apg.

   #5. Juan Guerrero (201-F-93, agency: Basket Management Solutions, currently plays in Venezuela) could not help Toros (3-11) in their last game. Despite Guerrero's very good performance the fifth-placed Toros (3-11) was edged 98-95 at home by the second-ranked Trotamundos in the Western Conference. He had a double-double by scoring 29 points and getting 16 rebounds. Guerrero also added 4 blocks (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) in 36 minutes. It was Toros' fourth consecutive loss in a row. Guerrero has very impressive stats this year: 17.1ppg, 10.0rpg, 1.3bpg and 1.3spg in 14 games.

   #6. Gelvis Solano (185-G-94, also represented by Basket Management Solutions, college: Merrimack, currently plays in Argentina) was not able to help Echague (8-36) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the tenth-placed Echague was crushed 106-81 on their home court in Parana by the second-ranked Estudiantes Concordia in the Norte group. Solano was the top scorer with 28 points. He also added 5 boards, dished 4 assists and stole 4 balls in 29 minutes. Solano has very impressive stats this year: 19.7ppg, 4.0rpg, 4.2apg and 2.0spg in 32 games.

   #7. Experienced Kelvin Pena (193-G-80, another player represented by Basket Management Solutions, college: Southeastern CC, currently plays in Venezuela) is a teammate of previously mentioned Juan Guerrero. But that was another game of his team in Venezuelan LPB which we would like to mention. Pena was not able to secure a victory for Toros (3-11) in their last game on Thursday. Despite his very good performance the fifth-placed Toros was edged 86-85 on their home court in Maracay by the leading Guaiqueries in the Western Conference. Pena was the top scorer with 30 points. He also added 4 rebounds and dished 5 assists. This season Pena has very high stats. He averages: 15.2ppg, 4.2rpg and 2.7apg.

   #8. Alfred Horford (208-F/C-86, college: Florida, currently plays in NBA) contributed to a 1-point Boston Celtics' victory against the Orlando Magic 117-116 in the NBA on Friday night. Horford scored 12 points, had 9 rebounds and dished 6 assists in 36 minutes. Horford has very impressive stats this year: 14.1ppg, 6.9rpg, 5.0apg and 1.3bpg in 63 games.

   #9. Ronald Ramon (183-G-86, college: Pittsburgh, currently plays in Brazil) contributed to an easy victory against the 12th-ranked Minas crushing them 108-74 in the Brazilian NBB in Wednesday night's game. He scored 8 points and added 6 assists. Ramon's overall stats this season are: 9.8ppg, 2.5rpg, 4.2apg and 1.2spg. He also holds two passports: Dominican Republic and American. Apparently Ramon has never played in Dominican Republic.

   #10. Juan Miguel Suero (198-SG-93, currently plays in Venezuela) couldn't help Gaiteros (4-8) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the fourth-placed Gaiteros was badly defeated 88-69 on their home court in Maracaibo by the higher-ranked (#3) Gigantes in the Western Conference. Suero was the top scorer with 24 points. He also added 8 boards, handed out 5 passes and blocked 3 shots in only a mere 1 minutes. Suero has very impressive stats this year: 22.3ppg, 4.6rpg, 4.2apg and 1.6spg in 12 games.

LNB Round 11: Reales LV edges Leones SD by two points - 8 hours ago
The most exciting game of round 11 in the LNB took place in Santo Domingo. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 3rd placed Leones SD (6-7) to seventh ranked Reales LV (5-7) 105-103 on Sunday evening. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 56-50 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Reales LV made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. American Forward Terrence Shannon (203-F-79) had a very impressive game in the last round for top-ranked Indios SFM, receiving a Latinbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 10. The 37-year old player had a double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds, while his team edged out Caneros LR (#4, 6-6) 95-93. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. LNB Round 10: Metros STGO lose to Caneros LR - 2 days ago
Round 10 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Metros STGO (8-3). They were defeated by fourth ranked Caneros LR (6-6) 116-109 on Thursday night. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Metros STGO. Caneros LR made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists.
