Ecuador's 2016 DirecTV Cup, the National League, is about to start its 9th Round in the regular season and Venezuelan Javinger Vargas (202-C-90), of Juvenil de Vinces, tops both the scoring (total of netted points) and the three-point shooting (total of scored shots), according to the league's official statisticians.

Vargas has scored 153 points for Vinces, while Elias Soliman (151) and Marvin Cairo (201-G/F-91, agency: Pro Sports) (143) are right behind him while being the best combination of foreign players in the league for Importadora Alvarado. Venezuelan Rafael Perez (193-G/F-82, agency: Paris Global Sports) (ICCAN Macas) is at fourth place despites missing some of the action due to injury with 135 points, Manuel Hurtado (198-F/C-90) (ADN) has scored 132 and Venezuelan Luis Carrillo (202-F-93), of Juvenil de Vinces, has scored 124.

The top10 also includes teammates Jordan Johnson (183-PG-92, college: Tenn Tech) of Portoviejo and a couple of players of Piratas, Carlos Malatay (180-G-90) and Willie Readus (201-F/C-92, college: Delta St., agency: DTMones), as well as Ajak Magot (211-C-92, college: Idaho St.) of Portoviejo.

In the three-point shots department, Vargas has scored 25, Perez follows him with 22, Johnson and Cairo have netted 21 each, Malatay has netted 20, Luis Estupinan of ADN has got 13 while Engels Tenorio Parales (197-F/C-88) of Piratas and Soliman have scored 12 each.

San Miguel (Liga MB) inked 25-year old American point guard Jordan Johnson (183-82kg-92, college: Tenn Tech). He played most recently at H.R. Portviejo in Ecuadorian National League. Johnson helped them to win the league title despite they ended the regular season at the second place. He was named Finals MVP. Barreteros de Zacatecas (LNBP) agreed terms with experienced 34-year old American center Benjamin Puckett (205-83kg-83, college: Clayton & State). He just played at Importadora in Ecuadorian National League. The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Puckett's team won Uruguayan Ascenso League Regular Season in 2016. Coach Pidal is back at Guaiqueries, ex Club Iccan - 4 months ago
Guaiqueries de Margarita (LPB) agreed terms with Ecuadorian coach Juan Jose Pidal. It is actually his comeback to Porlamar as he used to coach here before. Pidal coached last summer at Club Iccan in Ecuadorian National League. He helped them to make it to the final. Pidal also coached for Cangrejeros (LNB) that season.
