Piratas and Importadora win the Quarterfinal openers at the Liga Ecuatoriana de Baloncesto. Importadora overcame Juvenil 83-64 as they took 20-16 lead at the end of the first period. Importadora increased to 8 points halftime advantage and pushed the tempo later in the second half. Piratas meanwhile posted an 85-79 win over Emelec. Trailing 15 points at the halftime, Piratas exploded with a 33-15 surge in the third period and grabbed the win.
The second games are scheduled for December 16th.

Juvenil de Vinces (National League) agreed terms with American guard Brandon Thompson (193, college: Huston-Tillotson). He played this summer at Arcense in Salvadorean Liga MB. In 12 games he had very impressive stats: 37.0ppg, 7.8rpg, 1.8apg and 2.0spg. The last season Thompson played at Al Wehda (SBL) in Saudi Arabian league. Juvenil de Vinces (National League) confirmed in their roster 21-year old international forward Alexaner Guerra (196-96). He played there last season. Guerra also represented Ecuador at the South American Championships in Caracas (Venezuela) last year. His stats at that event were 4 games: 3.3ppg, 2.5rpg, 1.5apg.
