El Salvador U16 - Panama U16 59:52 (OT)

El Salvador ensured the third victory at the COCABA U16 Championship in Honduras. They prevailed against Panama for 3-1 record in the ladder. Leonardo Hernandez netted 20 points for El Salvador. Panama slipped at 2-2 record after the loss.
Panama jumped in front in the opening quarter. They accumulated an 18:13 lead after ten minutes. El Salvador stiffened their defence and cut the deficit at 4-point mark 24:28 at halftime. El Salvador erased the deficit in the third term. Moreover they surged ahead for a 41:36 advantage. But Panama refused to surrender. They went on a 12:7 run and forced overtime. El Salvador limited Panama to 4 points in the extra period to escape with a narrow win at the end. Luis Escoto (F-96) had 13 points and 6 boards, while Rene Alas added 7 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. Luis Henriquez (195-F-96) answered with game-high 26 points and 19 rebounds for Panama. Khalil Balmaceda (188-G-97) netted 11 points in the losing case.

21-year old swingman Marcus Thomas (191-G/F-95) had a great game in the last round for second-ranked Izalco and receives a Latinbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 9. He had a double-double of 53 points and 29 rebounds, while his team was edged out by the league's best team Marquense (#1, 20-0) 91-88. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. 26-year old center Marc Montavious (206-C-90) had an amazing evening in the last round for 11 Lobos and receives a Latinbasket.com Liga MB Player of the Week award for round 31. He had a double-double of 24 points and 21 rebounds, while his team beat Arcense (#12, 5-16) 86-80.
