SAN SALVADOR (Liga Centroamericana de Clubes) - Everything set for the start of the Liga Centroamericana de Clubes 2016. Six teams will battle for the last ticket available to the 2017 DIRECTV Liga de las Americas.

Costa Caribe of Nicaragua, Tigersharks of Belize, Banco Atlantida of Honduras, Santa Tecla BC of El Salvador, Correcaminos Colon of Panama and Halcones de Sonzacate of El Salvador will play on San Salvador, El Salvador from December 14-18.

Correcaminos de Colon will arrive to El Salvador as the undoubted favorite to win the tournament, with the added advantage of already participating in the 2016 edition of the Liga de las Americas and being a back-to-back champion of the Panamanian National League.

Every team has a chance in a tournament that will surely deliver emotion and great action throughout its entirety.

"After several years, Central America returns to shine and to organize an event that will show a level worthy of the best basketball of the region. The competitiveness and the technical level will conglomerated under one roof to give basketball fans a show that will surely thrill. San Salvador will host a basketball celebration that will transmit a culture of peace, family coexistence and inclusion," said the President of the Central American Basketball Confederation, Mr. Yamil Bukele.

"Work is being done and this time the eyes will be concentrated in the Central American Confederation, supported by FIBA Americas. Convinced that we are going through a good moment, and that our region will continue to grow and show the world that Central America is here and ready to advance," concluded Bukele.

The teams will play in round-robin format during five days, and at the conclusion of the games the top team will earn the ticket to the 2017 DIRECTV Liga de las Americas.
