David Lawson
27-year old point guard David Lawson (185-PG-89) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Canarios and receives a Latinbasket.com Liga MB Player of the Week award for round 3.
He had the game-high 39 points adding four rebounds and nine assists for Canarios in his team's victory, helping them to outclass, the league's bottom-ranked team Cojute (#11, 0-2) with 33-point margin 108-75. Canarios is placed at 4th position in Salvadorean Liga MB. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Canarios won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Lawson had a remarkable 78.6% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Canarios and just after two games he already turned to be a very valuable addition to the team. Reinhardt College graduate has very impressive stats this year. Lawson is league's best scorer averaging so far 38.0ppg. Lawson is in league's top in assists (5th best: 8.5apg) and averages solid 5.0spg and 69.2% FGP. Worth to mention Lawson played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

Second best performed player last round was Christopher Blake (197-G-88) of Brujos Izalco. He is American guard in his first season at Brujos Izalco. In the last game Blake recorded impressive double-double of 31 points and 10 rebounds. Of course Brujos Izalco cruised to a 98-87 relatively comfortable win over Denver-FAS (1-1). His team has extremely good start of the season. They won both games so far. However the season is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Blake is a newcomer at Brujos Izalco and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 28.5ppg (#8). His other stats are also decent: 6.0rpg and 7.5apg.

Third place about best performers goes to another Canarios' star - guard Wali Hepburn (193-G-89). Hepburn showcased his all-around game by recording 29 points, sixteen rebounds (!!!) and four assists in the last round. He was another key player of Canarios, helping his team with a 108-75 easy win against Cojute (#11, 0-2). Canarios has a very good start of the season. But there were just 2 games played, so it's too early to judge them at this stage. Hepburn also has a very good start of the season with very strong stats. Hepburn has a very solid season. In 2 games in El Salvador he scored 25.5ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Marc Montavious (206-C-90) of 11 Lobos - 15 points, 19 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Anthony Brown (193-PG-89) of Denver-FAS - 29 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists
6. Kenny Demouchet (198-PF-89) of Cojute - 35 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists
7. Michael Hinestroza Javes (208-F-90) of Isidro Metapan - 22 points and 16 rebounds
8. Luis Damian Morales (191-F-88) of Denver-FAS - 39 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Duane James (196-F-83) of Isidro Metapan - 24 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Jeremee Davis (191-PG-90) of Halcones - 25 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
