There were just 7 rounds played in Regular Season of Liga MB and we can clearly see which teams will fight for top positions and which will try to avoid bottom places. Host teams show no mercy winning all games.

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Santa Tecla as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Santa Tecla defeated 3rd placed Brujos Izalco at home 107-90. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Brujos Izalco. Santa Tecla forced 20 Brujos Izalco turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. Santa Tecla looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Santa Tecla made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized American point guard Robert Martinez (185-91, college: Our Lady Lake) who helped to win the game recording 29 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Cuban Lisvan Valdez (200-88) contributed with 31 points and 5 steals for the winners. Santa Tecla's coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Garland McArthur (197-88, college: Voorhees) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists for Brujos Izalco. Undefeated Santa Tecla (5-0) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Brujos Izalco at the other side dropped to the fifth place with one game lost. They share the position with Denver-FAS and Sonsonate. Brujos Izalco will play next round against strong Canarios trying to get back on the winning streak. Santa Tecla will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked El Rapido in La Union.
Undefeated Isidro Metapan (4-1) recorded its first loss on the court of third ranked Quezaltepeque. Visitors were defeated by Quezaltepeque 88-80. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Isidro Metapan. It was a great evening for American Quincy Scates (197-89, college: Tenn Wesleyan) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists. Douglas Bairez helped adding 24 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side Venezuelan guard Edwin Mijares (186-94) responded with 32 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Quezaltepeque. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Canarios and Isidro Metapan. Quezaltepeque will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Isidro Metapan will play on the road against Denver-FAS in San Salvador and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Cojute (1-4) left bottom position moving up to eleventh place, which they share with Santa Ana and San Miguel. It was Arcense's fifth loss in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

The game between seventh ranked Canarios (4-1) and 11th ranked Santa Ana (1-4) in Ahuachapan ended with biggest points difference. Canarios outscored guests from Santa Ana 97-77. Canarios shot 24 for 34 from the free-throw line, while Santa Ana only scored seven points from the stripe. 25 personal fouls committed by Santa Ana helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American players dominated the game. Center Reginald Brown (202-91) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points and 26 rebounds for the winners. Guard Wali Hepburn (193-89, college: Lock Haven) chipped in a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks. Four Canarios players scored in double figures. Maliek Daniels (193-88, college: Trevecca Naz.) produced 29 points and 7 rebounds and point guard SerDana Wright (191) added 17 points and 16 rebounds respectively for lost side. Santa Ana's coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Canarios moved-up to second place, which they share with Quezaltepeque and Isidro Metapan. Santa Ana at the other side keeps the eleventh position with four games lost. Canarios' next round opponent will be Brujos Izalco (#5) on the road.

Cojute's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after four consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Arcense (0-5) 72-68 on Thursday. Cojute dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Arcense's 22. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Arcense's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Cojute made 7 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward Anthony Moe (206, college: Millersville) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks. Center Brayan Garcia (177-95) accounted for 14 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side. Cojute's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game.
