Robert
Martinez
25-year old point guard Robert Martinez (185-PG-91) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's best team Santa Tecla and receives a Latinbasket.com Liga MB Player of the Week award for round 7.
He had the game-high 29 points adding six rebounds and five assists for Santa Tecla in his team's victory, helping them to crush Brujos Izalco (#4, 4-1) with 17-point margin 107-90. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Santa Tecla to consolidate first place in the Salvadorean Liga MB. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but Santa Tecla already had a very good start winning all 6 without losing a single one. In the team's last game Martinez had a remarkable six three-pointers out of 11 attempts. It's his second year at Santa Tecla and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Our Lady of the Lake graduate has very impressive stats this year. Martinez is in league's top in assists (4th best: 6.6apg) and averages solid 50.0% from behind 3-point line. Worth to mention Martinez played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

Second best performed player last round was Reginald Brown (202-C-91) of Canarios. He is American center in his first season at Canarios. In the last game Brown recorded impressive double-double of 20 points and 26 rebounds. Of course he led Canarios to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Santa Ana (#13, 1-4) 97-77. Despite this victory Canarios slide down in the standings to 6th position. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 4-2 record is not bad and everything may still change. Brown is one of the most experienced players at Canarios and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.6ppg (#8). He also registered 22.2 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Edwin Mijares (186-G-94) of league's second-best Isidro Metapan. Mijares got into 30-points club by scoring 32 points in the last round. He went also for seven rebounds and eight assists. Despite Mijares' great performance Isidro Metapan lost 80-88 to #3 ranked Quezaltepeque. But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. Isidro Metapan had another "accident". It may be a crucial game and cause dropping from the group of top ranked teams. The record is still good, but 1st lost game is hopefully really an accident. Mijares' teammates are also very good. That's why having such high stats is even more impressive. Mijares has a great season in El Salvador. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 29.4ppg (6th best) and assists with 7.0apg (2nd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Wali Hepburn (193-G-89) of Canarios - 27 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists
5. Lisvan Valdez (200-PF-88) of Santa Tecla - 31 points and 4 rebounds
6. Garland McArthur (197-F-88) of Brujos Izalco - 22 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists
7. Yordany Jaca (195-PF-83) of Arcense - 18 points, 21 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Douglas Bairez (180-SF-88) of Quezaltepeque - 24 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists
9. David Lawson (185-PG-89) of Canarios - 34 points, 2 rebounds and 7 assists
10. Maliek Daniels (193-SG-88) of Santa Ana - 29 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
