Douglas
Bairez
Douglas Bairez (180-SF-88) had a great game in the last round for second-ranked Quezaltepeque, receiving a Latinbasket.com Liga MB Player of the Week award for round 9.
The 28-year old player was the main contributor (22 points, eight rebounds and seven assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Denver-FAS (#7, 3-3) 102-93. Quezaltepeque is placed at 2nd position in Salvadorean Liga MB. They are still close to the very top. Quezaltepeque would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 5-1 record. In the team's last game Bairez had a remarkable 85.7% from 2-point range. He turned to be Quezaltepeque's top player in his first season with the team. Douglas Bairez averages this season 15.7ppg.

The second best player in last round's games was -year old American Danny Lawhorn (183-PG) of Arcense. Lawhorn had a very good evening with 41 points, 3 rebounds and 7 assists. Bad luck as Arcense was edged by slightly higher-ranked Santa Ana (#12, 2-4) 95-94. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Arcense keeps 14th position. 6 lost games are too many considering they did not win any game. Lawhorn is one of the most experienced players at Arcense and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American guard Macari Brooks (190-G-92) of Giants (#15). Brooks got into 30-points club by scoring 36 points in the last round. He went also for seven assists. Despite Brooks' great performance Giants lost 86-99 to the higher-ranked Cojute (#11, 2-4). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Giants can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 6 games. Too bad for Brooks he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Brooks has a very solid season. In 6 games in El Salvador he scored 24.7ppg. He also has 5.0rpg and 3.2apg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Eddie Ishman (196-F-86) of El Rapido - 30 points and 17 rebounds
5. Jeremee Davis (191-PG-90) of Halcones - 32 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists
6. Yordany Jaca (195-PF-83) of Arcense - 21 points and 15 rebounds
7. Scott Sill (206-F-92) of Cojute - 28 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists
8. SerDana Wright (191-PG) of Santa Ana - 36 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Nduka Ezeamii (203-F) of San Miguel - 26 points and 9 rebounds
10. Daniel Pena (190-PF-96) of Santa Ana - 13 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

21-year old swingman Marcus Thomas (191-G/F-95) had a great game in the last round for second-ranked Izalco and receives a Latinbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 9. Montavious' double-double lands him Liga MB Player of the Week award - 3 days ago
26-year old center Marc Montavious (206-C-90) had an amazing evening in the last round for 11 Lobos and receives a Latinbasket.com Liga MB Player of the Week award for round 31. He had a double-double of 24 points and 21 rebounds, while his team beat Arcense (#12, 5-16) 86-80. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. 11 Lobos maintains the 11th position in Salvadorean Liga MB. 11 Lobos is a typical solid league team placed som...   [read more]

Liga Superior Round 9 of Regular Season - 4 days ago
Liga Superior round 9 caused change at the leadership position. First defeat of league's leader Izalco (19-1) against leader Marquense (20-0) 91-88 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the 13-game winning streak of Izalco. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Marquense looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Izalco's players. It was a good game for Carlos Sorto who led his team to a v...   [read more]
