Danny
Lawhorn
American Point guard Danny Lawhorn (183-PG) had a great game in the last round for Arcense, receiving a Latinbasket.com Liga MB Player of the Week award for round 19.
The player was the main contributor (43 points, eight rebounds and seven assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Giants (#15, 0-12), the league's bottom-ranked team 78-69. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Arcense is placed at 13th position in Salvadorean Liga MB. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 10 games and recorded just three victories. Lawhorn just recently signed at Arcense, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Former Midwestern State University star has very solid stats this year. Lawhorn is in league's top in points (2nd best: 33.5ppg), assists (4th best: 7.1apg) and averages impressive 3.5spg and 52.1% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was -year old American Brandon Golden (193-G) of Cojute. Golden had a very good evening with 47 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Bad luck as Cojute lost that game 102-114 to slightly lower-ranked 11 Lobos (#11, 5-7). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Cojute dropped in the standings to 9th position. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 6-6 record is not bad and everything may still change. Golden is one of the most experienced players at Cojute and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American Quincy Scates (197-SF-89) of Quezaltepeque (#5). Scates showcased his all-around game by recording 27 points, eleven rebounds (!!!) and eight assists in the last round. He was a key player of Quezaltepeque, leading his team to a 86-77 win against the higher-ranked Santa Tecla (#1, 12-1). Quezaltepeque needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 8 victories and 5 lost games. Scates has a great season in El Salvador. After 12 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 27.9ppg (8th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Shawn Hampton (187-PG) of 11 Lobos - 34 points, 12 rebounds and 13 assists
5. Carlos Arias (200-C-89) of Santa Tecla - 24 points, 15 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Joseph Antoine (203-PF-84) of 11 Lobos - 23 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists
7. Christopher Blake (197-G-88) of Brujos Izalco - 33 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists
8. Garland McArthur (197-F-88) of Brujos Izalco - 19 points and 14 rebounds
9. Louis Birdsong (198-F-88) of Arcense - 14 points, 14 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Shahmel Brackett (183-PG-91) of Quezaltepeque - 19 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Liga MB Round 24: Quezaltepeque lose to El Rapido - 7 hours ago
The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets. The most important game in the last round took place in La Union between third ranked Quezaltepeque (13-6) and ninth ranked El Rapido (9-9) on Sunday night. Quezaltepeque was defeated by El Rapido on the road 78-89. It ended at the same time the two-game winning strea...   [read more]

Raymond Miller claims Salvadorean Liga MB weekly honour - 7 hours ago
American Raymond Miller (204-F/C-88) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Quezaltepeque and that's him to receive a Latinbasket.com Liga MB Player of the Week award for round 23. The 29-year old power forward had a double-double of 24 points and twenty four rebounds, while his team outclassed Giants (#12, 2-16) with 47-point margin 105-58. Quezaltepeque maintains the 3rd position in Salvadorean Liga MB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games...   [read more]

Liga MB Round 23: Leader Santa Tecla gets another victory - 2 days ago
The round 23 was rather boring as all games ended with very predictable results. Leader Santa Tecla delivered the sixteenth win on Saturday night. This time they beat 8th ranked Cojute (9-10) 82-67 in Cojutepeque. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Cojute. The game was mostly controlled by Santa Tecla. Cojute managed to win fourth quarter 18-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Santa Tecla looked well-organized offensively handing...   [read more]
