The most exciting game of round 21 in the Liga MB took place in Metapan. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 3rd placed Isidro Metapan (9-3) to first ranked Santa Tecla (13-1) 78-75 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Isidro Metapan. Strangely Isidro Metapan outrebounded Santa Tecla 48-36 including 35 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Cuban Oreste Torres (204-87) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Center Carlos Arias (200-89) chipped in 12 points and 12 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Venezuelan-Colombian forward Michael Hinestroza-Javes (208-90, college: UALR) who recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points, 20 rebounds and 4 blocks. Santa Tecla maintains first place with 13-1 record. Isidro Metapan at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. Santa Tecla will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Isidro Metapan will play on the road against the league's second-placed Brujos Izalco and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in was also worth to mention about. 6th ranked Denver-FAS (7-7) played at the court of seventh ranked Sonsonate (7-6). Sonsonate did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 91-73. It was a good game for Panamanian swingman Jonathan King (198-90, college: Abil.Christian) who led his team to a victory with 25 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Yoan Haiti contributed with 16 points and 19 rebounds for the winners. Olaniyr Adedoyin answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds for Denver-FAS. Sonsonate moved-up to sixth place. Denver-FAS at the other side dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. Sonsonate will play against Santa Ana (#12) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Denver-FAS will have a break next round.
A very close game took place in Santa Ana between Santa Ana and San Miguel. Fourteenth ranked Santa Ana (3-10) got a very close home victory over 12th ranked San Miguel (3-10). Santa Ana managed to escape with a 1-point win 83-82 in the game for the twelfth place. The game was dominated by American players. Andre Smith stepped up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Santa Ana's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Jordan Johnson with 34 points (!!!), 7 assists and 5 steals. Santa Ana moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with defeated San Miguel. San Miguel lost sixth consecutive game. Santa Ana will meet higher ranked Sonsonate (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. San Miguel will have a break next round.

In the last game of round 21 El Rapido defeated Arcense in La Union 74-65.

Sonsonate - Denver-FAS 91-73

The game in was also worth to mention about. 6th ranked Denver-FAS (7-7) played at the court of seventh ranked Sonsonate (7-6). Arcense - El Rapido 65-74

There was no surprise in San Salvador where 13th ranked Arcense (3-11) was defeated by tenth ranked El Rapido (6-6) 74-65 on Sunday. El Rapido dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Arcense's 30. They outrebounded Arcense 56-43 including 16 on the offensive glass. American forward Eddie Ishman (196-86, college: Miles) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Panamanian Manuel Guevara (186-81) chipped in 21 points, 16 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. The best for the losing side was American point guard Danny Lawhorn (183, college: Midwestern St.) with 25 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import forward Louis Birdsong (198-88, college: George Mason) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. El Rapido moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Cojute and Canarios. Loser Arcense dropped to the fourteenth position with 11 games lost. El Rapido will meet Cojute (#10) in the next round. Arcense will have a break next round.

A very close game took place in Santa Ana between Santa Ana and San Miguel. Fourteenth ranked Santa Ana (3-10) got a very close home victory over 12th ranked San Miguel (3-10). Santa Ana managed to escape with a 1-point win 83-82 in the game for the twelfth place. Santa Ana dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to San Miguel's 36. Santa Ana forced 23 San Miguel turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Center Andre Smith (208, college: William Jessup) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and forward Tobias Dowdell (201-90, college: Alders.-Broad.) chipped in 18 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Santa Ana players scored in double figures. Santa Ana's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game.
