The most exciting game of round 22 in the Liga MB took place in Izalco. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of their biggest opponent Brujos Izalco (12-2) to third ranked Isidro Metapan (10-3) 85-82 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Brujos Izalco. Worth to mention a great performance of Spanish-American forward Duane James (196-83, college: Binghamton) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds. Venezuelan guard Edwin Mijares (186-94) contributed with 26 points and 4 assists for the winners. American guard Christopher Blake (197-88, college: Detroit Mercy) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists for Brujos Izalco. Isidro Metapan maintains third position with 10-3 record having four points less than leader Santa Tecla. Brujos Izalco at the other side keeps the second place with two games lost. Isidro Metapan are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Giants (#15) in San Salvador in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Brujos Izalco will play on the road against 11 Lobos (#11) in Chalchuapa and is hoping to win this game.
Another interesting game for Canarios (7-6) which hosted in Ahuachapan against 5th ranked Quezaltepeque (8-6). Eighth ranked Canarios crushed visitors 106-86. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Quezaltepeque. American players dominated the game. Guard Wali Hepburn (193-89, college: Lock Haven) had a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 16 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Reginald Brown chipped in 21 points, 17 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals during the contest. Canarios' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side Quincy Scates (197-89, college: Tenn Wesleyan) responded with 31 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Canarios moved-up to seventh place, which they share with El Rapido. Quezaltepeque at the other side keeps the fifth position with six games lost. They share it with Sonsonate. Canarios will play against Santa Ana (#13) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Quezaltepeque will play against Sonsonate (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Loser 11 Lobos keep the eleventh place with eight games lost. Giants will meet at home higher ranked Isidro Metapan (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. 11 Lobos will play against the league's second-placed Brujos Izalco (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.

Santa Ana at the other side dropped to the thirteenth position with 11 games lost. Sonsonate's next round opponent will be Quezaltepeque (#5) at home. Santa Ana will play against Canarios (#7) and hope to win that game.

Brujos Izalco - Isidro Metapan 82-85

Everything could happen in Cojutepeque at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked El Rapido and 9th ranked Cojute had identical 6-6 record. But Cojute was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from La Union 70-58. El Rapido forced 22 Cojute turnovers. American forward Eddie Ishman (196-86, college: Miles) fired a double-double by scoring 28 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 steals for the winners. Panamanian Daniel King (203-87, college: Texas Southern) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 21 rebounds. Center Brayan Garcia (177-95) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Scott Sill (206-92, college: Delaware St.) added 9 points and 23 rebounds respectively for lost side. Cojute's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. El Rapido have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Canarios. Cojute at the other side dropped to the tenth position with seven games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Giants' fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after 12 consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat 11 Lobos (5-8) 80-77 on Wednesday. Strangely 11 Lobos outrebounded Giants 63-49 including 25 on the offensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Giants made 7 blocks. American players dominated also this game. Guard Macari Brooks (190-92, college: Pikeville) notched a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals to lead the effort and James Kirksey supported him with 27 points. Even a double-double of 13 points, 27 rebounds and 6 blocks by center Marc Montavious (206-90, college: Georgetown, KY) did not help to save the game for 11 Lobos.
