Thirteenth-ranked San Miguel (3-12) used its home court advantage to challenge fifth ranked Canarios (10-6) on Saturday. The visitors from Ahuachapan managed to secure only two-point victory 79-77. However their fans expected much easier game. Canarios looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Wali Hepburn (193-89, college: Lock Haven) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists. point guard David Lawson (185-89, college: Reinhardt) contributed with 32 points and 7 assists (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners. point guard Jordan Johnson (183-92, college: Tenn Tech) answered with 32 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists for San Miguel. Canarios have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 10-6 record. San Miguel lost eighth consecutive game. They dropped to the fourteenth position with 12 games lost. Canarios will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. San Miguel will play on the road against 11 Lobos (#11) in Chalchuapa and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.

It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. American guard Malcolm Tatum (188, college: Alders.-Broad.) stepped up and scored 30 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and Tobias Dowdell chipped in 23 points and 13 rebounds. At the losing side Yoan Haiti responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. Santa Ana moved-up to thirteenth place. Newly promoted Sonsonate keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Giants. American players dominated also this game. Brandon Golden nailed 34 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side. James Milton came up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds for Giants in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cojute moved-up to seventh place. Giants at the other side stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. Cojute will meet at home league's leader Santa Tecla in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Giants will play against Halcones (#4) and hope to secure a win.

In the last game of round 25 Isidro Metapan beat El Rapido on the road 94-82.

Cojute - Giants 104-79

The game between tenth ranked Cojute (8-7) and 15th ranked Giants (2-13) in Cojutepeque on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. Cojute outscored guests from San Salvador 104-79. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Giants. Cojute had a 35-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Giants' players. American players dominated also this game. Guard Brandon Golden (193, college: Midwestern St.) nailed 34 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side and power forward Anthony Moe (206, college: Millersville) accounted for 25 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks. Power forward James Milton (203, college: Stevenson) came up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds and guard Macari Brooks (190-92, college: Pikeville) added 13 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Giants in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cojute moved-up to seventh place. Giants at the other side stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. Cojute will meet at home league's leader Santa Tecla in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Giants will play against Halcones (#4) and hope to secure a win.

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Isidro Metapan (12-4) beat 9th ranked El Rapido (7-7) in La Union 94-82 on Saturday. Isidro Metapan made 25-of-30 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game, while El Rapido only scored seven points from the stripe. Spanish-American forward Duane James (196-83, college: Binghamton) nailed a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and Venezuelan guard Edwin Mijares (186-94) accounted for 31 points and 4 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!). James is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Isidro Metapan players scored in double figures. American forward Eddie Ishman (196-86, college: Miles) came up with 37 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and Panamanian Daniel King (203-87, college: Texas Southern) added 13 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for El Rapido in the defeat. Isidro Metapan maintains third place with 12-4 record having just two points less than leader Santa Tecla. Loser El Rapido dropped to the tenth position with seven games lost. Isidro Metapan will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. El Rapido will play against Quezaltepeque (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

El Rapido de La Union (Liga MB) strengthened their roster with addition of 31-year old Cuban power forward Arlen Alorda (198-105kg-86). He played in the summer at Capitalinos in Cuban LSB league. Alorda has played there for the last five years. In 19 LSB games he recorded 6.7ppg and 6.1rpg (#5 in the league). Alorda helped them to make it to the semifinals. Santa Tecla BC (Liga MB) tabbed experienced 37-year old American (has also Jamaican passport) forward Devin Thompson (199-80, college: St.Peter's). He played in the summer at Asocoacion Baloncesto de Apopa in Salvadorean Liga Superior. In two games he averaged impressive 28.5ppg, 8.0rpg, 3.5apg, 1.5spg and 3.0bpg. Bulldogs won Segunda Categoria Torneo Apertura 2017 as they beat Costa Rica 2-1 in the Final series. In the decisive third game they posted a 93-57 victory. Mario Amaya top-scored for the winners with 26 points and David Amaya Quinteros notched 17. Eduardo Garcia replied with 17 points in a loss.
