Montavious
American Center Marc Montavious (206-C-90) had an amazing evening in the last round for 11 Lobos, receiving a Latinbasket.com Liga MB Player of the Week award for round 26.
The 26-year old player had a double-double of 30 points and 22 rebounds, while his team outclassed San Miguel (#14, 3-13) with 44-point margin 94-50. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. 11 Lobos maintains the 11th position in Salvadorean Liga MB. 11 Lobos is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 6-9 record. In the team's last game Montavious had a remarkable 76.5% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at 11 Lobos, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Former Georgetown College star has very solid stats this year. Montavious leads league in rebounds with 21.1rpg. Montavious is in league's top in and averages impressive 4.3bpg and 54.5% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was -year old A Brewer of Halcones. Brewer had a very good evening with 34 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Of course he led Halcones to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Giants (#15, 2-14) 105-80. Halcones' 4th position in the standings has not changed. His team's 11-5 record is not bad at all. Brewer is one of the most experienced players at Halcones and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was another 11 Lobos' star - Haitian forward Joseph Antoine (203-PF-84). Antoine showcased his all-around game by recording 25 points, thirteen rebounds (!!!) and five assists in the last round. He was another key player of 11 Lobos, helping his team with a 94-50 easy win against the lower-ranked San Miguel (#14, 3-13). The chances of 11 Lobos ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 9 games, recording just six victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Antoine could help 11 Lobos to bring them higher in the standings. Antoine has a very solid season. In 13 games in El Salvador he scored 17.3ppg. He also has 11.2rpg and 2.1spg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Anthony Moe (206-F/C) of Cojute - 27 points, 21 rebounds and 6 assists
5. Lisvan Valdez (200-PF-88) of Santa Tecla - 41 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists
6. Macari Brooks (190-G-92) of Giants - 25 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Raymond Miller (204-F/C-88) of Halcones - 12 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists
8. Shawn Hampton (187-PG) of 11 Lobos - 23 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists
9. Shahmel Brackett (183-PG-91) of Quezaltepeque - 26 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists
10. Jose Araujo (186-G-86) of Halcones - 22 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Liga Superior Round 9 of Regular Season - 22 hours ago
Liga Superior round 9 caused change at the leadership position. First defeat of league's leader Izalco (19-1) against leader Marquense (20-0) 91-88 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the 13-game winning streak of Izalco. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Marquense looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Izalco's players. It was a good game for Carlos Sorto who led his team to a v...   [read more]

Liga MB Round 31: Santa Tecla beats Canarios by three after a very close game - 22 hours ago
Fifth-ranked Canarios (12-7) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Santa Tecla (19-3) in Ahuachapan on Sunday. The visitors from Santa Tecla managed to secure only three-point victory 97-94. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Canarios. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized American point guard Robert Martinez (185-91, college: Our Lady Lake) who helped to win the game recording 30 points. C...   [read more]

Christopher Blake claims Salvadorean Liga MB weekly honour - 1 day ago
American Christopher Blake (197-G-88) had a very impressive game in the last round for league's second-best Brujos Izalco and that's him to receive a Latinbasket.com Liga MB Player of the Week award for round 30. The 28-year old guard got a double-double of 41 points and eleven assists, while his team beat Giants (#15, 4-17) 94-89. Brujos Izalco maintains the 2nd position in Salvadorean Liga MB.
