Garland
McArthur
American Garland McArthur (197-F-88) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's second-best Brujos Izalco and that's him to receive a Latinbasket.com Liga MB Player of the Week award for round 27.
The 28-year old forward had a double-double of 31 points and seventeen rebounds, while his team crushed San Miguel (#15, 3-14) with 20-point margin 114-94. Brujos Izalco maintains the 2nd position in Salvadorean Liga MB. They are still close to the very top. Brujos Izalco would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 14-3 record. In the team's last game McArthur had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Brujos Izalco, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Garland McArthur averages this season 21.3ppg and 13.6rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was another Brujos Izalco's star - 28-year old American guard Christopher Blake (197-G-88). Blake impressed basketball fans with 37 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Of course together with McArthur he helped Brujos Izalco with another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked San Miguel (#15, 3-14) 114-94. Brujos Izalco's second position in the standings has not changed. His team lost just three games this season, while they won 14 matches. Blake is a newcomer at Brujos Izalco and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 25.5ppg (#7). His other stats are also decent: 6.2rpg and 5.9apg.

The third best performed player last round was American Keion Palmer (208-F) of Isidro Metapan (#3). Palmer scored 28 points and grabbed eighteen rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Isidro Metapan, leading his team to a 89-77 win against the lower-ranked Arcense (#13, 4-14). Isidro Metapan needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 13 victories and 4 lost games. Palmer has a very solid season. In 3 games in El Salvador he scored 19.7ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Jordan Johnson (183-PG-92) of San Miguel - 34 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists
5. James Milton (203-C/F) of Giants - 23 points and 18 rebounds
6. Marc Montavious (206-C-90) of 11 Lobos - 13 points, 24 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Daniel King (203-PF-87) of El Rapido - 18 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists
8. Macari Brooks (190-G-92) of Giants - 29 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists
9. Nduka Ezeamii (203-F) of San Miguel - 22 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists
10. Duane James (196-F-83) of Isidro Metapan - 23 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Joe Reid
Reid's double-double lands him Liga MB Player of the Week award - 1 day ago
Forward Joe Reid (200-F) had a great game in the last round for Arcense and receives a Latinbasket.com Liga MB Player of the Week award for round 24. He had a double-double of 50 points and 12 rebounds, while his team crushed Santiagueno (#13, 2-16) with 22-point margin 129-107. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Arcense maintains the 10th position in Salvadorean Liga MB. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently...   [read more]

Liga MB Round 24: Quezaltepeque lose to El Rapido - 2 days ago
The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets. The most important game in the last round took place in La Union between third ranked Quezaltepeque (13-6) and ninth ranked El Rapido (9-9) on Sunday night. Quezaltepeque was defeated by El Rapido on the road 78-89. It ended at the same time the two-game winning strea...   [read more]
