Liga MB top team - Santa Tecla (17-2) had no problems winning another game on Thursday. This time they beat eighth ranked El Rapido (8-9) 71-54. Santa Tecla forced 21 El Rapido turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Cuban Lisvan Valdez (200-88) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 9 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Center Carlos Arias (200-89) contributed with 11 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Panamanian Daniel King (203-87, college: Texas Southern) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists for El Rapido. Santa Tecla have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 17-2 record. El Rapido at the other side dropped to the ninth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Denver-FAS. Santa Tecla are looking forward to face league's second-placed Brujos Izalco on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. El Rapido will play against Cojute (#6) and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
Important game to mention about took place in San Salvador. Fourteenth ranked Giants (4-14) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 12th ranked Santa Ana (4-14) 80-78 in the fight for the twelfth place. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward James Milton (203, college: Stevenson) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 15 rebounds and Macari Brooks who added 15 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side guard Malcolm Tatum (188, college: Alders.-Broad.) responded with 25 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Giants moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Santa Ana and Arcense. Giants will play against higher ranked 11 Lobos (#11) in Chalchuapa in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Santa Ana will play on the road against Arcense in San Salvador and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The visitors from Ahuachapan managed to secure only three-point victory 96-93. However their fans expected much easier game. The winners were led by David Lawson who had that evening a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Even a double-double of 37 points (!!!), 17 rebounds and 4 assists by Joseph Antoine did not help to save the game for 11 Lobos. Canarios have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 11-6 record. Loser 11 Lobos keep the eleventh place with 11 games lost. Canarios will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. 11 Lobos will play against Giants (#14) and hope to secure a win.
Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Sonsonate (9-9) and Cojute (9-8), which took place in Cojutepeque. 6th ranked Sonsonate was outleveled in a road game by ninth ranked Cojute 110-80. Brandon Golden fired a double-double by scoring 32 points, 7 rebounds, 12 assists and 7 steals for the winners. Cojute moved-up to sixth place. Sonsonate lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost. Cojute's next round opponent will be El Rapido (#9) in La Union. Sonsonate will play at home against 11 Lobos and hope to win that game.

In the last game of round 28 Arcense was beaten by Halcones on the road 106-90.

Halcones - Arcense 106-90

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Halcones (12-5) beat 12th ranked Arcense (4-14) in Sonzacate 106-90. A Brewer fired 37 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds for the winners. American Jeffery Moss (193-93, college: Murray St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Halcones players scored in double figures. Halcones' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Guard Abilio Vadillo (180-78) produced a double-double by scoring 47 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds and S Willis added 13 points, 17 rebounds and 8 assists respectively for lost side. Halcones have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 12-5 record. Arcense at the other side keeps the twelfth place with 14 games lost. Halcones' next round opponent will be higher ranked Isidro Metapan (#3) at home and it may be the game of the week. Arcense will play against Santa Ana (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Eleventh-ranked 11 Lobos (6-11) used its home court advantage to challenge fifth ranked Canarios (11-6) in Chalchuapa on Thursday. The visitors from Ahuachapan managed to secure only three-point victory 96-93. However their fans expected much easier game. Canarios made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American point guard David Lawson (185-89, college: Reinhardt) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import center Reginald Brown (202-91) supported him with 23 points and 21 rebounds. Lawson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even a double-double of 37 points (!!!), 17 rebounds and 4 assists by Haitian Joseph Antoine (203-84, college: Union, TN) did not help to save the game for 11 Lobos. American center Marc Montavious (206-90, college: Georgetown, KY) added 15 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks for lost side. Canarios have an impressive five-game winning streak.
